His representatives haven't discussed an extension with the team at all. He's literally just waiting on the chopping block for it to happen
What he is waiting for and what is happening are one thing. In any interview with him, he has expressed feelings that do not leave one to believe that he is frozen out. He has been quite complimentary.

Okay fine

My larger point being, you cannot have zero discussions with these guys for an extended period about a contract extension, and then when the trade deadline hits come out and say "we're discussing an extension" as an attempt to drive up the price

People aren't stupid, they know Gorton has zero intentions of bringing Kreider back, and it's been evident for a year

Stop looking at just points. TDA is not great and never will be defensively. I still think you send a big time package for one , big prospect. Kreider, Howden TDA for Cozens and a first? Kreider, TDA and Howden for Tippett and a first. I would like a high level, top forward back in a package deal. Something along those lines. You could add in any number of names but the idea is sound. Get another top, young, forward talent to add to the mix.

To me this hints that the rangers like Boston and Colorado prospects borderline ready players more so than arizona’s

I think the Rangers would prefer to make a deal with someone like Boston and Colorado if there's an opportunity to get a young player over a pick.

If no such deal exists, then it will come down to where they think the pick might be located, or what the overall package consists of.

Stop posting this garbage. Cozens or Tippett are not nearly good enough to trade 3 NHL players for

But he isn't really a 3RD. Maybe on our depth chart but he produces like a top 4 guy. What is wrong with paying ADA 5 million a year? I don't see his value taking a big hit and should you ever need to trade him, you could get a hefty return. I just don't think we should consider trading him until absolutely necessary.
Plus, who is forcing management's hand on the right side? No one. Keane is having a good start to his pro career, and Lundkvist, while tearing up the SHL, has nowhere near the physique to handle the rigors in the NHL, and is probably at least another year from coming over.

DeAngelo's value also isn't anything close to what we like to think it is. He needs to continue to produce until the end of the season, and probably next as well, in order to return a piece worth giving him up to acquire. He's under team control for another two seasons past this one, so I really don't see the urgency to trade him away. Nashville has made a living off being a D factory, and they always seem to get good value and make room when they have players who are ready to take the next step. But they make their young D earn it.

Sure, but I think that is not yet all that evident. I believe that Gorton will weigh all possible returns vs. what he would bring back Kreider at and decide from there.

Again, as of today I think that he gets traded. But there is a path for him to stay.

Like I said, this is a fantasy. Kreider is gone. Accept it. And likely for the best given his expected contract vs his production/inconsistency.

I love the concept but if the big name prospect coming back is Cozens, I’d be mortified. I do not see NHL-level IQ with that player and don’t see him becoming anything more than a middle 6er. I wouldn’t be surprised at a total bust.

Would much prefer Newhook/Krebs or a pick that gets us Zary/Holloway.

Carp doing a solid job of regurgitating information we already knew

Hard to believe this guy has a job
He tweeted it out the exact same time everyone else did.

Then, being a reporter, he did what he is paid to do, by writing it up in an article that took a couple of hours to finish, get edited, and then post.

He writes in far more depth regarding the Rangers than any other reporter covering the team. I'm grateful to have him.

Eh

Agree to disagree. Carp is the human embodiment of the “old man yelling at clouds” meme

Dude is coasting to retirement

They can say whatever they want. Whether anyone buys it is another story. Every big deal Scott Boras does seems to include “two mystery teams.”

I really don't think there is.

I could totally see him self renting Kreider if they hang around long enough.

Boston doesn't have a flashy prospect pool, but they do have a few guys in their early 20's who are playing pro hockey but haven't been able to take that next step forward or earn a consistent spot with the team.

Anders Bjork is the guy that stands out the most. I'm sure the B's would be loathe to give him up, but for the right guy perhaps they would. Speedy and can make plays at pace. Good shot and vision. Can play both ends of the ice well.
