The more shots you put on goal, the more chances of the puck going behind the goalie, no? Also the more opportunities for rebounds.
Theres more to that right. I mean taking a ton of shots is great if they are getting through traffic and hitting the goalie. I recall the Torts Rangers giving up a lot of shot attempts but we blocked everything so it didn't matter.

Also a team like Carolina shoot all the time but I get the sense that they use it often as a way to turn the defense around. I noticed in our game a lot of low net and blocker shots from them.

I personally think it would better for us to do the same. Take as many shots as we can and play the 50/50 puck afterwards but what do I know :)

Glad Kravstov is coming back. Hopefully he can express his concerns to Drury and Knoblach and start fresh.

He may end up playing on the big roster, Kreider is finished here. He's already playing like he's part of the "31 Club" I always reference which for power forwards is like the "27 Club" for rock stars.

UFAs this upcoming offseason stink. Maybe one of Toffoli, Leivo, Frolik, Nieto, or Sheary on a reasonable deal to help the bottom six. Barron will get a shot in the middle six if he turns pro.

I keep beating the Kreider to STL trade that would send back Kostin as a primary piece for the future.

Rangers also work something out with Colorado and absorb Wilson's hit? He was resigned but has been injured much of this season. Colorado is doing fine without him. He can actually help the bottom six this year.

Stop looking at just points. TDA is not great and never will be defensively. I still think you send a big time package for one , big prospect. Kreider, Howden TDA for Cozens and a first? Kreider, TDA and Howden for Tippett and a first. I would like a high level, top forward back in a package deal. Something along those lines. You could add in any number of names but the idea is sound. Get another top, young, forward talent to add to the mix.

Stop assuming that every defenseman who puts up points automatically sucks defensively. DeAngelo isn't great, but he is not horrible either. Players like DeAngelo hold on to the puck which is even more important than being good defensively. As long as you have the puck, the opponent can't score.

Fabbri with 18 points in 17 GP with Detroit. I wish we would've bought low on him.

Yup, he really stood out as the perfect buy-low candidate.

Even started a thread about him at the trade section (Value of: - Robby Fabbri (forward, STL)).

But Yzerman won't leave many options like that on the table for the slower thinking GMs.

Arizona's organization is not terribly deep and as you expect, it's hands off Hayton and Soderstrom. Also, Crouse is their Lemieux and very unlikely to be moved. Any Arizona trade this year is going to be primarily picks.

There is an appealing part though...they don't have a lot of cap room, the new owner is very anxious to make the playoffs and they are inclined to move picks for players. Kreider is not a big cap hit to begin and the Rangers have plenty of cap room to retain and take back a contract. Chayka is getting a contract extension but Tocchet has not gotten one yet. He needs the playoffs more than anyone else.
Fischer and a first is something I could get behind. Add a bit more grit, maybe there's some offensive upside.

Al Arbour's philosophy was to shoot the puck from ANYWHERE and EVERYWHERE on the ice.

This was his mantra long before they went on to dominate the NHL.

A shot attempt makes the goalie move to get in position as they HAVE to assume its gonna get through meaning there is potential to take them out of position if its deflected away from the net.

The Rangers often times overpass.

We need selfish players that want to shoot and not pass

Like I said, this is a fantasy. Kreider is gone. Accept it. And likely for the best given his expected contract vs his production/inconsistency.
It is only a fantasy to those who say that it is a fantasy. Do I think that he will be traded? Yes. Do I think that there is absolutely no chance that he is brought back? Of course not. There is a path.

Let's not deal in absolutes. Leave that for the Sith.

I really don't think there is.

I could totally see him self renting Kreider if they hang around long enough.
The self-renting part is a fear that have. I mean, sure if they are a top-4 or 5 team in the conference one can look at it. But if they are 8-10, that makes no sense.

Again, I think that the chances of Kreider being traded are far, far greater than the chances of him being resigned. But he is a leader on the team and an integral part of the locker room. Depending on how the dominoes fall, there is a path for him to be resigned.

Yes, they do.

"You miss 100% of the shots you don't take. I mean those words were only uttered by the greatest player to ever play the game. Maybe he was onto something.

Even if it's expensive having a RD side capable of generating (currently the three RD are on pace to put up a combined ~144 points) seems like a pretty good foundation for an explosive offensive team.

If I were an opposing team that would be tough to try to match-up against given one of those three would be on the ice at all times.

If ADA, even on the 3rd pair is helping say the 3rd line generate more offense than they would otherwise, that too is a bonus.

On the flip side if they can get an actual dynamic forward for ADA, I could see the value there too, yet I'm not so sure ADA is going to carry that sort of trade value.

They should really be teaching one if not both of ADA and Fox to PK.

I sure as hell can appreciate a smart Star Wars quote.

What if they are 6-7?:sarcasm:

I honestly do not expect his legs to hold up throughout the course of this season

Also, two sites show its 15pts in 16games
Those don’t figure in last nights game. 2 G 1 A.

The season is almost halfway over, at what point does this argument’s legs give out?

Boy, if panarin is ever trying to justify his salary, he’s been as productive as advertised. While I am not sure sure if 11 million was the right price, he’s sure not struggling to perform.

The crazy thing is, if a player like Bread was going to be a UFA this summer, you bet your ass he'd be getting way more than 11.

Isles and many more would have given him 12+. Weren't there multiple confirmed reports of that?

He's a steal and he looks better on this team than I have ever seen him play. Having peak bread is still surreal to me. I still can't get over how he got his own rebound and sniped such a dirty one underneath Jones' glove.. One of the only times Jones actually was set up right and just had zero chance. Was unbelievably filthy.

That Russian rink news is very interesting.

And in fairness, not all offensive D are considered poor defensively. The fact is that ADA is poor defensively, and we'd like him to improve. It hasn't helped that Trouba has made a lot of defensive errors/dumb plays too the last few weeks.

On Panarin- he's shooting 20% and is a career 14% shooter. So I'm thrilled with his game and who he is, but I think he's a little ahead of the curve in terms of where he will finish the season with goals.
