Fair but Hall is probably the best rental to hit the market...ever. When is the last time a player 1.5 years removed from a Hart trophy was dealt? Hall will get a team’s #1 prospect.

EK65 was better at the time of the trade and I’d argue that Stone was better than Hall (and still is) when he got traded

Hall getting traded early will be good for the Kreider return though. If a team was close to getting Hall and just misses they might be desperate for Kreider
 
Kovalchuk was probably the best rental of all time if we're being honest.

But none of this really matters. The interest in the player+how silly teams are willing to get will really set the market. Shero is an idiot and will inevitably f*** his team into oblivion, but hes smart in trying to get out ahead of this to ensure that a. the player is moved before he has a chance to get hurt (with Hall, thats a good possibility) and b. the team will have ample time to suck their way into another top 3-5 selection.

If Spencer Knight is really as good as they're going to do, I'm feeling very comfortable. He's a terrific goalie prospect, but they're probably the toughest to really gauge and I'd rather they get a guy who has a chance to be a good goalie than a guy who has a chance to anchor an entire Defense for a decade+
 
The prospect of Spencer Knight being a major piece in a Hall trade made me realize that I have never been seriously worried about the Rangers’ goaltending...

I think he is so overrated. Like don’t think he is or ever have been as valuable as Panarin is right now, for example.

It’s pure Canadian bias that he has a Hart to start with.

He only won that Hart because McDavid missed the playoffs. There is really no argument for Hall having a better season than McDavid that year.
