Honestly, Hall is attractive based on raw talent but nothing about the guy says winner to me. I’d honestly rather spend literally 60% in assets to go after virtually anyone else. Hall is a head case whose gonna sign for big bucks somewhere regardless of his odds of winning. Colorado is better off avoiding.

I agree with you but I do feel that the appeal of having Mackinnon on one line and Hall on the next, barring Sakic balking at price, is too much to pass up. You’re talking two MVP level players who are absolute physical work horses.

If that were to go through I could see St Louis and Arizona being heavily in on Kreider though. Outside shot for Edmonton IF Kreider would sign there. Not sure a rental would be in Edmonton’s wheelhouse

i dunno. have you seen his teams' luck in the draft lottery?

I get the indication that the Rangers want an actual NHL player, rather than picks or prospects, as the main piece(s) in a Kreider trade; thinking along the lines of the Brassard/Zbad trade. Jost certainly fits the bill. Rangers love Dvorak but no way he is moved, he is finally producing at a decent rate and Arizona looks to be very well in the playoff hunt, who else from Phoenix would fit what we want? (Don't bother naming players like Hayton). Carolina, Florida, Vegas all make sense as well (Edmonton no because good odds Kreider would block it with his limited NTC). Dallas and Minnesota could be in the hunt come the TDL.

I think Kreider is the only one moved during this season.

Expansion draft looming, need players to expose.

Fast is a UFA at the end of the season, does he get moved? Re-signed just to be exposed? Left in UFA limbo till after the expansion draft?

From Arizona both Crouse and Fischer intrigue me.

What I don't understand is why it couldn't get done. Not too long ago I would have said no as I am one of the most anti-JP people on this board. But considering where Lias is at both from a production standpoint and how the team views him, I don't see why it didn't happen. No team should be asking for more.
But they must have been asking for more. Gorton told them to go fish.

As a general point of comparison, in Oct. 2016, a 23-year-old Nail Yakpov was traded to St. Louis for Zach Pochiro and a conditional third-round pick in 2017.

At the time Pochiro was shuttling between the ECHL and the AHL, and the conditions of the pick never ended up being met.

Now, Yakupov was two years older than JP, but he was also more productive at the NHL level.

So I'm not sold on the idea that the Rangers need to up the ante to acquire JP, regardless of what Holland determines is his asking price.

I get that Edmonton has been a tire fire, but I'm not sure that some posters fully understand how much of a calculated risk a guy like JP is at this point, or what history points to as an approximate price point for assuming that risk.
So Gropp and a 3rd?

Duclair was a miss by us. He looks real good in Ottawa. Ofcourse we werent the only miss but we did draft him.

I could see Colorado being into Skjei also, particularly if we were willing to take back Zadorov. Kreider and Skjei gets us Newhook, Zadorov and a 2nd?

We're not getting anyone that was a high first rounder from the last draft with our rentals or even a Skjei.

Newhook was a hope and want from a ton of us, especially when we had the 20th pick. Then the rumors with potentially moving Kreider for 16 popped up. We got hyped and it fell through.

Ideally, we're not getting a 1st for Kreider. If it's the best offer, that's fine. We should be looking at the 20/21 year old prospects that could fill a spot next season. We can talk about all the guys coming already in the system, but we could really use another young winger when we're losing Kreider and possibly Strome and Fast.

We're still currently playing Smith and either Haley and Nieves. There isn't much currently knocking on the door to take roster spots.

Find another Lemieux type. Physical, can skate, and has some puck skills. If a team is desperate enough, might get that #1 and that type of prospect.

Newhook was selected at 16. That's not high, its literally the middle. We could get a low 1st + for Kreider and the same for Skjei depending on the recipient.

I hope were just harping on Yandle’s usage by AV and not Yandle himself. Yandle is an incredible PMD and you saw the energy he plays with.

Him being used more properly and McDonagh sitting in Game 7 of the ECF in favor of Sheppard and we might have a cup
