Like I've been saying don't worry about draft picks and draft capital, that they're really easy to get if that's what you want.

There was some kind of cap crunch that played into that. With the cap going up, those deals aren't going to be out there in all likelihood.
Chances are after rounds 3-4 you would be just as far ahead sifting through the late bloomers /leftovers/Euros/US college kids who shave . Pray and hope one turns out every season and plays a few NHL games at some point .

They should just make the draft 4 rounds and let the rest sign where they want ...be it the AHL or return to junior or head to college/university . Going 7 rounds seems like a waste IMO . Even 4 rounds might be too much .

Hard to know what they plan to do at wing post-Panarin/Kreider. On the one hand nobody in the system is projected to be that good. On the other if your center depth is good enough, maybe Laf, Cuylle, Perreault, Othmann is a good enough top 6 at wing. I’d say that’s pretty optimistic though. It’s not like we are going to have three excellent D pairs any time soon so they will absolutely need to be able to score 3 lines deep to be a cup contender again.
Sign FAs with all that freed up cash!

I'm game but can you name a player like Necas that's available? I mention Rantanen because he's available. The $14M per year becomes very similar to what we're currently paying panarin once the cap goes up.
The bolded is the problem. It's the same attitude that landed us Panarin. It's the same attitude that has caused us so many problems over the years. It's a lack of patience.

Just because he's available and we have the ability to make a deal for him, that doesn't mean we should. If the right player isn't available, then wait. Hold onto the cap space and other assets. Make moves because they are the right ones, not because of FOMO.

Agreed but he did take the pregame skate

Reporters also said his shot did look like it had steam on it

Berard up is more to cover Smith who should be scratched and traded soon

I do think Kreider could be traded though
Must be some pissed off teammates and executives/coaching staff/fans/and guys who were not selected that watched him take a spot from a healthy US player in the 4 Event Cup roster .....a healthy body that could have possibly contributed might have made all the difference in the event that was decided by one goal in OT .........so one could say ....it may have been his selfishness that cost the US team a better chance to win GOLD . He put himself before the team.....

You also have mcdavid potentially available next year. It makes absolutely no sense to blow the cap space when theres the possibility of getting McDavid.

The cap shooting up gives us the opportunity to rebuild the roster, get maybe one high draft pick and then mcdavid, and we can fill in the roster around what we have without much difficulty.

Moving out guys like Mika, CK, Panarin will then let us build a very deep roster with prospects/picks. Guys who play the game the right way.

He does suck...this team went to the eastern conference finals 2 of the last 3 years and we're now slinking our way around the bottom of the conference, trading players for pennies on the dollar, I'm not sure how anyone could think this is good. The only move I've liked is the jt Miller one.
How much did you expect to get for a 22 game rental of Lindy?

I agree not to get a player just to get a player - Rantanen is obviously an insanely talented player. If you think he's not the type of player the Rangers need, thats fine but it's just a difference of opinion. Eventually you'll need to come up with a solution of which player fits(and they need to be available), which was more my point.

You guyss are nuts if you think McDavid will want to come to a rebuidling Rangers team filled with prospects and draft picks.

If he decides to leave the Oilers he probably want to come to a team that already have guys like Mika, Panarin and Kreider.
You mean a rangers team that has a vezina quality goalie, a 1d
a high end winger that can be on his line in laf
a 2c in miller
We might be rebuilding, but if we get a high pick here, get a ld for fox, its not a long rebuild its over very quickly.

Im open to dealing Carrick but I see him as a useful 4th liner and good PKer for next year. I dont want to lose his physicality either but if someone offers a 1 or a 2, obviously. Id also make a hockey trade involving him. Parssinen will likely fill much of his role.

So who’s the LD UFAs?
Gavrikov , Provorov and ?

Could still see a Matheson or Ferraro deal by flipping picks imo

Really like Matheson, I've been on him all year. I think the cost will be high. Perfect partner for Fox in terms of size and skating (unless we want to finally have the KAM+Fox pair)

NYR want a roster with less holes next year, not more. So the 4C they just signed for 3 seasons at next-to-nothing, who has been competent and better than Barclay Goodrow- I'd be surprised if he was dealt.

You do that, for all you know you end up with a Kevin Rooney or Greg McKegg in free agency- someone who simply isn't as competent or doesnt fit the needs as well.
