  • We're expecting server maintenance on March 3rd starting at midnight, there may be downtime during the work.
NYR want a roster with less holes next year, not more. So the 4C they just signed for 3 seasons at next-to-nothing, who has been competent and better than Barclay Goodrow- I'd be surprised if he was dealt.

You do that, for all you know you end up with a Kevin Rooney or Greg McKegg in free agency- someone who simply isn't as competent or doesnt fit the needs as well.
Two more years. The Rangers can find a fourth line center this summer.

He may do both.

I’m relieved that he’s at least doing the bare minimum with the UFAs though.

Would love a Panarin move before Friday.
With the timing of these moves, and the unlikelihood of a Kreider trade materializes given the circumstances, I think there is something to this

Always a good reminder that teams can't do a ton of moves at once, it all takes time. Moving the UFA to be guys now, and having several days till the TDL with no imminent moves... makes me think there is motivation for more in the works. Could see Drury looking to buy on guys that are multi-year players.

That's the right PP1 with this roster. I'm out of excuses for #13. He's had opportunities this season to prove he should be on PP1 and he's let all of them slide through his fingers. That's on him.
wow Jones gets a legit chance. Coach Cost us the game against the Leafs with the ridiculous lazy 5 man forward unit on the pp. Instead of actually playing a dman with some mobility along the blue line and someone who can snap the puck pretty well.

Also gotta give Drury some credit I don't many GM's in my time of being a fan of this team would realize that he has to start taking away some of the vets from this coach. Trouba gone. Goodrow gone, Lindgren gone, Vesey gone, Smith soon gone, CK soon gone. Unfortunately some others like 93 are hard to move.

Rangers are trying to thread the needle. Sell off because they aren't good enough to keep or buy rentals, which is the right call. But place yourself for a full rebound next year and after, while also still having enough to push for the playoffs this year.

Not for nothing but why is Brodzinski in over Kaliyev. I guess it’s not a big deal but I’d like to see all the younger players get a good run.
Kaliyev is lost in the defensive zone. Lavi doesn't have use for that. I'd give him a one year QA and let him train his ass off this summer, but the Rangers may let him walk.

Next year take out Brod for Gabe and that's not a bad PP2. Maybe move Zib down but who do you take out? Cuylle deserves it, could take the Kreider role. Othmann could be the trigger man.

Potentially, but we've gone through a lot of them over the years and most haven't been very good. I wouldn't be so confident in us finding a good one this summer. Yes, we could put Edstrom in that spot, but it always helps to have depth.

Ultimately, it comes down to the return. Apart from him taking 1 of 50 contract slots, his contract is in no way a burden for us. If we can get a 3rd round pick for him (or better), I'd be interested, but otherwise I don't see the point.

Dallas in theory would be a good trade partner for Kreider. Rangers can even retain 50% this year and less each year (30% next and 10% the final) the issues:

-Their first rounder would have to be next year as this year's is used up
-Bischell who is an obvious target is out with a concussion. No bueno.

A couple of things, Drury getting work done before the deadline like this makes me think he has something larger still that he is trying to accomplish.

I could see a scenario where Drury is playing De Haan to prop up any value he may have and try to flip him this week. Even a late round pick.

It would have to be 3rd or better to make any logical sense. I agree.

Drury 100% is trying for one big material change by Friday in addition to the obvious trading Smith and maybe Jones.

Kreider may be on the way out.

Idk about anyone else but after years of rumors about Kreider being moved, only to trade him when his value is probably at its lowest would lowkey kill me inside
They can retain each year to get more pieces. 50% this year, 30% next year, 10-15% the final year.

The problem is he probably won't go to the Canadian teams, Dallas, Florida, and Vegas don't have much left in draft capital.

So send him to Washington for a 1st, 2nd, and one of their big prospects (younger Protas)?

I'm gonna lose my mind if after we've purged the old dead weight off this team and are forced into playing younger players we go on a heater, because most of us wanted this in September.
