Speculation: Roster Building thread - Part XVII - (TDL is March 7th)

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. The admin team will continue to work on existing issues, templates and upgrade all necessary available addons to minimize impact of this new version. Click Here for Updates
  • We're expecting server maintenance on March 3rd starting at midnight, there may be downtime during the work.
I like Smith as a player, but trading him is an obvious move. He should fetch a decent haul.
He has pretty good hands but that’s about it.

NYR need forwards like him who can actually receive outlet passes on the backhand in the neutral zone. But he doesn’t have speed, grit, nor does he mesh well with any of our stars.

It was a bit of a peculiar rental trade to start. Hopefully they can get back what they gave for him. In the meantime I hope we give more time to Berard and Oth

Like the fact that Drury is getting out in front of D Day. Seems like in the past, our plan B and C options were no longer available when the grand plan failed.

After Smith goes we’ll see what happens with Jones, if Domingue has any value, and whether one of Krieder or Pan go now or in the offseason.

IMO we would have heard by now if Panarin was even a small possibility for the deadline.

Players like that don’t usually get moved without significant preceding rumors

FLA needs sone depth G bad

We aren't scoring at the same clip as last year, but we're still over 3 goals/game. The issue is we are giving up way more goals than last season. This is with Panarin, Mika, Kreider, Trocheck, Fox, Laf all drastically underperforming offensively.

Theoretically if Igor gets his head out of his ass, fire Housley and the coaching staff, we should be able to ice a playoff team. No Lindgren. Whoever out of the above is still here HAS to be better, right? Then Cuylle, Othmann, Berard, Edstrom, Gabe should provide plenty of energy and upside to this team.

If one of Panarin, Mika or Kreider gets moved for a LD then we may be in an even better position.

I’m pretty sure the Gaborik move came about with no preceding rumors. I don’t think Panarin will get moved this week but it’s still a possibility

Agreed. Panarin has the NMC, so if he gets traded, we probably won't know about it until it happens.

Trading Carrick seems like a move just to make a move

He’s signed for nothing for the next two years, has been solid as the 4C. I guess you could move him for a mid round pick but what’s the point

I know he is not a glorious 30 goal guy but Carrick has been a pretty solid signing. I'm okay trading him for the right price but he has been a bit better than I expected.

Smart too, seems like the sellers who get out first get the better hauls. As it gets to the trade deadline date the buyers start getting the bargins.

That's the right PP1 with this roster. I'm out of excuses for #13. He's had opportunities this season to prove he should be on PP1 and he's let all of them slide through his fingers. That's on him.
