What’s odd to me about Kreider is that he was seen either today or yesterday doing a bag skate. To me, that doesn’t scream something physically is wrong unless it’s something minor and upper body (hand, arm, shoulder). Could this be the Rangers ‘resting him’ and telling him that he has played his last game as a Ranger while also letting him heal? The move to IR allows them to call up someone to replace him while not necessitating Kreider to answer a lot of questions about not playing.

Call it a tin foil hat theory but with the way the team played the game against Pittsburgh where Kreider came out for warmups and then didn’t play makes me think that the decision may have been made then and the team was in ‘shock’.

All the IR means is that he’s not likely to play tomorrow and they had a full 23 man roster and needed to open a spot to call up berard. If they wanted to hold him out for a trade they would just say it like every other team does (and they themsleves have done before)

I like Schneider. But Byram is way more dynamic offensively. Defense is average to below average.

Good theory. Definitely will hold more water with me if he’s out tomorrow too.

Didn’t NHLPA had an issue with that when this period of keeping expected to be traded healthy player off the lineup longer? We do start hearing about it more openly the closer TDL - like about now

The beat has been running interference for Kreider all season. I think it's time to move on. It has been 13 years.

Well the Predators announced it regarding Nyquist yesterday. The reason they likely put him on IR is because they aren’t sure if he can play tomorrow and they just traded two players today. If for whatever reason parsinnen/de Haan can’t make it tomorrow they would have 0 extras. Note that they didn’t even out Kreider on IR until after the trade was made today. That could also mean needing to play shorthanded if they happened to make a smith trade before game time.
