all posting about Kreider to Boston is a really good call IMO. Yeah, they cannot have a repeat of the Blues series again. A large Kreider could be the difference for them and the Rangers might get a large return.

I like the fit
Burly pushy Kreider - as opposed to fake-Mike-Gardner Kreider - is actually making me think the Rangers offer him the Tom Wilson contract. Maybe he takes it.

Simple, Gorton can force other GMs into trades they don’t want to do. Done!
Yup. The market decides. I saw someone on the Devils board - yeah, I peeked - who was like ‘trade Hall and Vatanen and Simmonds and Subban and Joe and Fred and Mike... I was thinking how obviously tight the market has been for Gorton. It’s just not a sellers market. There will be about seven trades between now and the deadline. Two or three will bring decent returns. I’ll be thrilled if the Rangers end up with an extra first this off season.

We’ll see if Edmonton circled back to the Rangers tomorrow as that’s the deadline.

Would Edmonton not sell off Pool Party to make the team better.

Still think Fast and a 3rd would be decent. Fast could really help Edmonton and the Oilers can fit him under their cap.
I’m pretty sure Fast is not a hugely prized target for most teams. I may be wrong but I’m if the opinion Fast has more value for the Rangers than he does as a trade piece. And as a result he’s re-signed for 6/3.

I would die laughing if Montreal traded for Kreider. That would be the most hilarious landing spot for him from a fan perspective considering their fanbase still despises him.
They would change their tune right-quick. They know better than anyone that it wasn’t a dirty play. I do think Kreider was trying to ‘make something happen’ but it was a hockey play, end of the day. We’ve seen it a million times. Sad that Price got hurt.

It would suck to to see the Rangers trade Georgiev for a package of picks headlined by a 2nd round pick and lesser picks. The Rangers got a late 2nd and lesser picks for Talbot who had a good year or two in Edmonton. Buffalo traded a late 1st to Ottawa for Lehner. Ottawa took Colin White with that selection. Buffalo had acquired it from the Islanders in the Vanek trade. The Murray family connection was there. The Flyers traded Bobrovsky to Columbus for that return. Bob was not supposed to be what he became in Columbus. Bob became one of the best goaltenders in the NHL.

The Alberta teams don't have a long term solution in net. Holtby will be a free agent this summer. The Caps have young Samsonov. They will allow Holtby to leave as a free agent. He is from western Canada. Is he an option for one of those teams? Holtby will be 31 at the start of next season. The Caps have Backstrom and Holtby to re-sign. They are keeping Backstrom who is also 32. Holtby won't be cheap.

Detroit is the worst team in the NHL. They have 11 players over 30. They have nothing in goal. Howard and Bernier. Yzerman inherited Hedman and Stamkos in TB. Everyone will see how smart Stevie Y is.

There are other teams which could use an upgrade in goal. Ottawa. Columbus. The Devils(Gorton isn't dealing a goalie to them). The Avs? Another goalie to pair with Grubauer. Nashville has received bad goaltending this season. Both Rinne and Sarros have struggled. The Wild? Bill Guerin is a new GM looking to make some moves. Dubnyk is 33 with one year remaining on his contract. Vegas has no one besides Fleury who is getting up there in years too. They were mentioned in this thread.

Georgiev is eligible for the expansion draft. He will get a decent 2nd contract this summer. The team acquiring him will look to protect him and they may already have another goaltender to protect. They would potentially lose Georgiev in the expansion draft. Vegas is not participating in the Seattle expansion draft. They don't have to worry about losing a goaltender in the expansion draft. Kelly McCrimmon and Gerard Gallant were at the Rangers-Devils game yesterday. They are playing the Rangers tomorrow night, the Devils on Tuesday and Islanders on Thursday.

The Rangers don't have that issue. Lundqvist's contract expires after 20-21. Shesterkin is exempt. The Rangers protect Georgiev. There is no way to play all three goaltenders next season. Henrik has a huge ego.

Time will tell.

Not ideal but
Could carry 3 goalies
Could trade Hank , I think it’s possible
Could just leave Shestyorkin in the A

I’d keep Georgiev too

Oilers are on crack.... a Andersson for Poo is fair . Both high picks that haven’t done anything yet

Adding a 1st is nuts
A fourth overall for a seventh overall is totally reasonable. And frankly I prefer Andersson. If Edmonton legit expects more they need to take a little timeout to settle down a bit.

I kinda think Kreider is an old 29 years where’s Tom Wilson is still only 25. I do believe Kreider can still can be that playoff complimentary force yet I think he’s a very risky high investment. There will likely be a lot of kids to pay in the future and wouldn’t want dollars tied up in a 30+ year old Kreider.

Roster is looking good though. Let’s hope the Devils don’t win the lottery again b/c generational talent appears to win a lot.

Nice read.

Tells us the Rangers might have multiple options if they want to deal off Georgiev.

He put on a good show yesterday with Vegas in the crowd--yeah they might have been scouting their up coming opponents but I'm sure they liked what they saw in Georgiev.

A deal in there to be made with someone if the Rangers choose.

Toronto
Carolina
Vegas
Calgary
Edmonton
Minnesota
First time hearing Nashville but add them to the list.

Not that I want him traded but at see what the market is willing to offer.

All awful

Not all.

Fast and Gross for Pool Party is not bad.

Georgiev and Boo is close I would hope for more with Georgiev but Dorofeyev would be a really good piece to add to our team.

Staal for Kovy was proposed by many--thought about it not really a fan.

Strome trade we would get our 2nd pick back--think about getting Fox for only a 3rd round pick. Not sure I would want to deal Keane ( guessing that's why you didn't like it ).

How about Georgiev to Carolina for our picks back ?

Kreider to Boston makes a ton sense I to would want maybe Bjork or other player like that added but we'll see what the market offers.

All in all no one that he proposed hasn't been spoken about by multiple people.

One thing it brings in more youth and picks.

One note...

Oilers aren't going to trade Pulj for a contract expiring bottom six forward plus a C prospect.

I do, however, think they would drool at the idea of adding ADA to their powerplay. Enough so that perhaps all three of Pulj, Yamamoto, and McLeod might be on the table.

I'm not trying to force ADA out the door, but it's hard not to think of what kind of holes we could fill in the roster by trading him.

I still don’t see how this is a relevant deadline for Puljujarvi if he has no intent to play in the NHL this season anyway.

Maybe that’s only Edmonton but I have to admit time is running out for this year. I believe there’s only 4-1/2 left to be traded and sign a contact.

I would rather wait it out, and if it comes to it in 2-3 years deal ADA in a big package for a player like M Tkachuk or Werenski if they make it clear they aren't staying long term.

Obviously yes there would be a ton of moving parts on that, including especially ADA establishing himself as a 50-60pt dman. But if he continues on this trajectory I'd be disappointed in a quantity trade.

The thought of having Tkachuk and Lemieux on the same team makes me hard.

Edmonton can move Puljujarvi at the deadline as a chip still. Rebuilding/retooling teams would like to have him play, but at that point, it's only 20ish games by then.

Have a feeling if Hall is moved there, Puljujarvi is the main piece coming with a 1st in the deal.

No offense Fitz, but if DeAngelo finishes with 10-15 goals and 50+ points this season, he's worth a hell of a lot more than a bunch of maybes and a bottom six forward. If the Rangers trade DeAngelo, I want a premium LHD or forward coming back.

I would agree that I'd set a high asking price.

That said, my number one priority in a return player is cost control. A good player still on an ELC would be ideal, and to get that you might have to take a slight step down in quality.

He can’t play in the league at all this year unless he’s signed by today.

Puljujarvi already said he’s not coming over for this season. So I’d imagine there’s no rush for them to make a move

That was just a false headline created by media. In that interview he said he's focused to playing in Finland for the whole season. In other interviews he's said his goal is in the NHL and he's open to coming back if there's a deal.

During this week he did talk for the first time more clearly about staying in Finland, but just today a local reporter with good inside connections tweeted that Puljujarvi is open to a trade.
