Can we not trade Kreider to one of best teams in the league that also has one of the worst prospect pools?

Exactly. If Kreider wants to play for Boston he can sign there this offseason. Deal him to the highest bidder, same as Strome.

I'm optimistic that even if we are in contention fro a playoff spot, management will do what is best for the long play of the rebuild. Hank wouldn't be pleased, nor would Buch, but that's part of running a modern salary cap NHL franchise.

You're not happy with Lindgren and k'andre mille for Nash?

We need impact prospects or the chance to get one with a lottery ticket. We don't need to trade for one of their 100 depth defenseman or 3rd/4th line forward potential prospects. I highly doubt Boston would be the only team in the league that would deal a 1st for Kreider. I find it very hard to believe given their prospect pool and status in the league that they are capable of making the best offer.

Yeah but you said something along the lines of... Why do people keep trying to make trades with Boston... This infers that you're not happy with previous trades with them... So again... Do you not like the Lindgren and Miller haul? For 2 months of Nash? I'd call that a grand slam.

Well the trade was not Lindgren and Miller. It was Lindgren and a draft pick. And if you're going to do that it's Nash and a 2nd (Tychonick) for Lindgren and Miller since they had to trade the 2nd to even get Miller.

Lindgren is an alright depth defenseman, and I think including K'Andre as part of the Nash deal is disingenuous when talking about the value of the original trade in a vaccuum.

Where's the grand slam?

And Strome

And Strome
This is true but before we go down that rabbit hole heck even Lindgren alone for Nash, right now, looks like a great deal. Maybe I'm just more impressed with him than others..but he plays a strong positional game..shows really great instincts, and is basically your best lhd

He's been a solid meh to above average.

...which I guess on the NYR blueline is comparatively good.

He's not blowing socks off though.

Agreed. I think he will have a fine career as a bottom pairing guy, but probably shouldn't be asked to do much more than that.

Why not both?

Because I don't think any of the prospects they would trade have significant upside so instead of getting one of them I'd prefer to get a second or third round pick or something instead to give more flexibility during the draft.

Considering what Nash was at that point in his career and having the hindsight to see he really didn’t do anything for Boston, I think Lindgren, Spooner (Strome), and a 1st is pretty good value.

Damn that 2018 draft was huge for us Kravtsov, Miller, and Lundkvist

If Kreider gets traded for a package that includes a prospect like Lindgren, there better be some serious mustard on the picks they get back in that deal.

Otherwise, it's a bad trade.

Yes. Kreider, while still likely a rental, is in a much different point in his career than Nash. One is looking for a big UFA contract and the other was months away from retirement.

You wouldn't have put one of if not the best net front power play guy in the NHL.... In front of the net on the power play?
On the second unit ....yes. I would at least experiment with it since our PP has slowed down by a lot of late .....can't hurt to try different stuff and on a 5 on 3 that would be a good time or a 4 minute minor .

The way Kreider is playing, we won’t get the moon. Hoping for a small to medium asteroid.
Yup...he certainly has not been driving our offense in the last year by any means according to RB's #'s.....I hope we can get two teams interested . What we get in his return might be the difference in our pace of rebuild .

It’ll be interesting to see how the Kreider shakes out with Hall being available

I assume teams interested in Kreider would also be interested in Hall.

If Hall brings back a meh/okay return, the Devils will definitely screw the market up
