Maybe, but I think its more about giving him ample time to heal.

Groin issues can linger. JG is almost for sure going to wait another 2 months before moving anyone out.

Nichushkin and Honka are in bad need of a change of scenery.

I'm thrilled Bayreuther has stepped into the NHL and is doing well, but Dallas must be looking to shift some pieces at the deadline. Could definitely see Zuccarello heading there.

The Rangers have been linked to Nichuskin in the past. I’m sure they’d be interested

And Zucc has been linked to Dallas in those same conversations. There could definitely be a deal there, but I would certainly be looking for a 1st from Dallas in a deal for Zucc. I see them as a team that could get desperate to make some moves for help, and then not making it deep into the playoffs. Good opportunity to sell high and have a pick in the low 20s.

Won't happen with Ruff as a coach of the Rangers. The feelings between Ruff and Val are not what one would call amicable.

Also, you don't need a winger or a body coming back with Zucc. Especially with how the team is constructed now. I think gaining the cap space with some picks/prospects is a good add in a Zucc deal.

Plus, I'm not sure if Nicushkin is a good value at $3M... I would much rather get a prospect and a pick, or just picks.

Speaking of Dallas, I think they might be one of a few teams in the league that will take an onerous contract from the backend off of the Rangers. They need defensemen. Klingberg is locked into one of the best bargains in hockey, they don't owe their current guys anything major in the next two years...

Smith/Shattenkirk... Dallas can afford it. Nill may be on the hot seat. There is a deal to be made there.

Does anyone else think zucc is being held out as trade protection

No not as trade protection in the traditional sense, where maybe a deal has been made and they are keeping him out, or waiting until he can pass a medical, but in the sense that they don't want to hurt his value? Yes. In other seasons they had guys who could have sat out, play because of a playoff race... but not this time around.

This tweet should clarify a few things.

Nitten.no belongs to Roy Kvatningen, the only journalist who has Zucc's phone #.

The Rangers might be ale to help by taking Hanzel’s contract back. He is on LTIR. My bad contract for yours.

Very true, and he's not going to come off of LTIR it seems.

If he's locked on there, then thats a cap clearing move that opens up more space next year.

I always enjoy watching Zucc when he is playing good, but it don`t help the team to get low on the table since he will win games for Rangers when he is playing good, but it has been a while since and I believe the injury was one of the major reason for that, and it might be a motivation factor too. It`s only him, Staal, and Henrik who have been in NY for over a decade almost with 3 different coaching staffs, and his 9th NHL season in NY and he arrived earlier and that in itself is an achievement in my opinion. So I`ve many good memories from him and others in previous season especially in playoffs time.
