If I'm being completely honest, if the Rangers actually offered the package that @BBKers mentioned, I think its a good deal for Toronto and they should take it. I mean think about it, you get a talented player to fill the spot that WN leaves, you get an LD to play behind Rielly who is already signed to a very friendly contract and has term and no NMC OR NTC. You can safely sell Gardiner for the best offer available and you lose practically nothing considering WN wasn't taking your offer anyway. I understand there are other offers out there, but just because Skjei is an LD doesnt mean the deal wouldnt make sense for Toronto. Kinda wish that trade got done. This team would be so freakin exciting with a Zibby WN duo.

Might be alone in it, but I really don't think Hajek looks close to NHL ready. He had a decent camp but has been really up and down in the AHL. Lindgren has been steadier, IMO.

Agree, I posted about Hajek as an acquisition target months before the trade was made, and Libor hasn't been the same force he was in the Dub as in the AHL.

I think it will get there, he plays a thinking Man's game, and I think he's still adjusting to the system, going up against guys that he can physically overwhelm.

IMO you take a deeper look at his AHL performance after the new year and see if he plays that understated mistake free game.

If there is a guy that's going to push Brady, it's Libor... But I'd like to see him get NHL minutes first and play a steady game before entertaining the thought.

And I for one think Brady's been guilty of numerous brain farts in his pinches and coverage.

Live to fight later in the shift Brady.

Been working in a non traditional hockey market the last several weeks. Went to the teams games a number of times. Tickets are dirt cheap.

TOR has had scouts here. Not sure if it was for Willie, but if it is, I can bet you that they want cost control as a part of the deal... This team has that asset, the Rangers do not. Much better player than Brady imo... Steadier, smarter, lower risk.

I don't think Zucc can go anywhere right now because he's injured.

So he screwed up that Nylander deal for Gorton

Neither of them are ready this year, and I personally don’t think Lindgren ever will be anything more than a 3rd pairing glue guy. I think someone said it earlier, but if they deal Skjei, I could see them moving Hayes to get a young LD back

I could see the Leafs wanting to send a guy like Marincin back with Nylander to clear a contract. Basically a body to stick on the bottom pairing for the year that you don't mind waiving if needed.

We are doing that thing again where guys we have been crapping on for 18 months are now perfect for other teams. Maybe we shouldn't be doing this trade, but we like the leafs so we'll do them a favor this one time.

I keep trying to convince myself that your aren't Zuccarello or someone in his inner circle. And then you make posts like this.

I'm just happy "Zuccarello" is at the acceptance phase.

Would probably do this, but what is our post-Skei defense plan, Staal 1D?
Here is the thing. With Skjei, the Rangers defense is bad. If they trade Skjei, it's still bad.

All moving Skjei does it get them closer to the top of the draft, but Nylander gives then a foundational piece. If Skjei and Zuccarello is close enough to were they can keep adding, I certainly would try to appease TML. If Philly is offering Sandheim + for example, the Rangers beat that with strong complimentary pieces to Skjei. Skjei is better than Faulk too.

Did the deadline pass?

5pm but they have to have pen to paper and get it sent to and approved by the NHL offices. So they're cutting it close if it does happen.

At this point, if he doesn't sign, you gotta think that the focus moves to trading him to a team that is okay with him sitting out the rest of the season.

Can’t believe it’s down to final 5 minutes. Who would have thought. Can they even trade him and get the paperwork in in 5 minutes ?

No way he goes back if the deadline passes.

Guess Toronto will have to move him in the off-season

Talk about anti-climatic

Why was he holding out, this was around the number everyone projected for him in the summer...

Either the Leafs were lowballing him the entire time, or he caved last minute
