Maybe. Hart's not having a particularly good start to his pro career. 0.884 SV%, 3.61 GAA in 12 games.
Georgiev was pretty terrible to start last season too, to the point where they went out and got Mazanec mid season to be the starter over him for Hartford. I think if a team was going to trade for Georgiev I think it would be a team with an older or struggling starter looking for a guy to ease into becoming the starter over the next season or two, like Edmonton or Florida

Where would Darling play? We have a full compliment of goalies already and Shesterkin coming over next year. Darling has 2 more years left on his contract. Are we sticking him in the AHL in place of Tokarski? Huska and Wall are both juniors. Maybe they both go back for their senior year, but maybe they don't.

I don't mind taking on a cap dump for a year or two, but not at goalie. Even if Benny can work his magic on Darling, the ROI will still be low.

I'd send Georgiev to the AHL to get more minutes and Darling would back up Hank. If Wall and Huska both turn pro this summer we're in a bit of a pickle regardless. I'd also explore trade options for Georgie if a team like St. Louis wanted to see if he's an upgrade on Allen. Maybe Florida as well.

The ROI on Darling isn't much of an issue if you're getting a high quality prospect like Fox.

Where does Shesty play?

If we're getting someone like Fox, I'd bring in Darling as our goalie for the expansion draft in 2020 and if he doesn't get taken, buy him out. That buyout would be $2.15m the first year and $1m the second against a $4m contract. The guy can get sent to Maine in the meantime.

He can't be sent to the ECHL without his permission.

I'd probably look for:
Darling (with $1m retained) + Fox for Smith

Demote Darling and take the ~$2m cap hit for two more years. It opens up a defense spot and saves the Rangers ~$1m in cap space compared to if they were to demote Smith.

Yeah it's not an impossible deal to manage. Especially if Carolina eats a bit of the money.

Hell, maybe of Carolina misses on Nylander there's a possibility Hayes could be an option for them. If we could get Fox and another strong prospect I'd eat Darling in the deal.

IMHO, a Zucc trade nets you more with him playing well.

You have to trust the brass to know if the injury is bad enough to affect his value, but at this stage in the game, I don't see where he fits other than trade asset.

I would guess that a contender that needs a scorer that can produce in a secondary role would be a good target. But not much other than that.

Not for a second do I believe that reporter lied. I didn’t even need to read the story to know this is his mentality. He’s played like it for a year.

Like I said earlier this thing has legs and isn’t going to sit well with the Bahston Brass

They will prop Zuc up to trade him, I still think on McDavids right side is the spot for him as it would benefit the oilers and Zuc by driving his value up.

If Alzner is moveable, that probably also means 18 is movable too, with retention. Damn NMC probably prevents that.
