I know we don't want our alumni going to Pittsburgh, but:

-They desperately need a middle six forward.

-Brassard is struggling and has never seemed the same since we traded him.

-Brassard and Zuccarello are practically family.

-The Penguins have their 2019 1st and a very interesting project in Daniel Sprong who needs more ice time.

Check, check, check, and check.

dont see the need to roll the dice for sprong using the zucc chip.

i see alot of zykov in sprong actually. same situation. same under performer.

no thanks

I don't see how it would change anything?

The asking price won't drop and Toronto's needs won't change.

Value drops because he can't play this year. The teams in the mix reduce. Toronto can sit on the asset but they need help this year. Cap is going up A LOT next year so their window is not as good then. There is no way his value on dec 2 is as good on dec 1.

I said it last week, I’d be over the moon with a first and Calen Addison for Zucc

You forgot something. Coach Sullivan and Zucc know each other well.
Sullivan knows what he'll get, and Zucc would definitely like to play for the Pens and even sign long term there.

Everything would fit very well in a deal like this. Get it done.

Zuccarello was kind of dicked around under Torts/Sullivan, no?

I'd be ok with this. Pittsburgh wouldn't be though. That 2019 1st is looking like a potential lottery pick.

I'd do the 2019 1st straight up or Sprong and a 2019 2nd.

I think Pittsburgh is definitely looking for a move to spark the team. Missing the playoffs isn't acceptable for them.

Sprong is exactly the kind of project the Rangers should be gambling on right now. We have exactly the environment that kid needs at this point in his development.

I think Darling on waivers is a last ditch attempt to get him off the books before they have to pay someone to take him.

Darling with $1m retained and Fox might be appealing for teams who have a body to spare.

I was thinking to myself:

Would I trade Brendan Smith to Carolina for Scott Darling + Adam Fox?

Well Smith is just another bad contract and they're loaded on D as it is. I was thinking a lesser prospect and Beleskey for Fox and Darling with retention. Carolina saves money and gets a prospect they can gamble on.

Rangers give Darling some time with Allaire and see if there's a market for him if he finds his game again.

Highly unlikely but interesting to speculate.

I was just thinking of a way for them to replace Pesce with a defenseman when they acquire Nylander.

The Rangers get the dead cap space but bring in a very good prospect. Perhaps Carolina keeps $1m

Well, it's actually tradition here to pick an assistant coach and blame everything on him, so what you're saying can't be accurate.

Only as it pertains to special teams. If we're talking about the defense, that's 100% on the coach, regardless of which assistant actually manages the defensive line changes.

Where would Darling play? We have a full compliment of goalies already and Shesterkin coming over next year. Darling has 2 more years left on his contract. Are we sticking him in the AHL in place of Tokarski? Huska and Wall are both juniors. Maybe they both go back for their senior year, but maybe they don't.

I don't mind taking on a cap dump for a year or two, but not at goalie. Even if Benny can work his magic on Darling, the ROI will still be low.

Trade Georgiev for a haul to Philly?
