You and a few others didnt but missing the playoffs and continuing to garner top talent in the draft while making smart trades is how to build a winner. Making the playoffs only hurts this team long term
Am not sure where you are going. Are you saying that not rooting for losses is getting in the way of getting a high round pick?

No, I'm saying that for the future of this team it is better for us to be in the lottery this year. We have a lot of holes still to fill esp in the forward position. This team even if it makes the playoffs won't get out of the first round. So why hope that we do, lose out on a player that can potentially make a serious difference for us, make a dumb mistake by keeping krieder, and possibly try to become buyers at the deadline? Rebuilding takes time. Yes we accelerated that by what we have done the past few seasons but we still are a year or two away from being a legit cup contender as long as we make smart moves.

I dont think anyone suggested we would be buyers under any circumstance. But for me you cant be a bottom feeder for too long because then you get into cap trouble like the Leafs and Oilers. Both teams missed out on the years that their young stars were cheap, something Chicago, Pitsburgh and L.A capitalized on to win their cups before they had to pass out the big checks. Let the season play out, kreider should be moved because his next contract has to be a home run for him. Next year we have to take a big step ahead but I wouldnt be disappointed if we got a round of playoff experience under our belt this year, not expecting it but wouldnt root against it

Which is why I'm saying that this year would be the last year we will be in the lottery. Getting a top 10 pick and getting another top end forward helps tremendously. Making smart moves and a few hockey type trades ex brassard for zibs would help us to become a legit cup contender for many years to come

Playoff experience this year helps with the march next year, I'd want the pick too but at some point you have to stop sailing with the wind and point the bow into the sea. Toronto thought they could stockpile players and just fill the roster too but by the time they started moving forward they had to pay their stars and ended up moving off players because they couldn't afford to make the team better. It's a balancing act. I think you have to let the teams play decide where you are at.

While I agree with your point you also have to see that we are STILL a rebuilding team. Rebilding and doing it the right way takes time. We have 2 years of the rebuild. Have some patience.

We have no ability to stick with the top teams in the league. Its foolish to make the playoffs this year

Blues are doing pretty well despite icing about 2.5 lines of checkers right now because of injuries, a flagging Faulk and two mid to low quality goaltenders.

Sucks with the moves today, they didn't call up Shesty. The guy looks to be the real deal. Georgiev has struggled lately. Uncle Larry had an article about Shesty today.

Cup of coffee should happen at the end of the season. Bringing him up right now is rushing.

One game now as a thermometer for him isn't rushing. I'm very much of a fan of the Torts model which is if there's room for a prospect to come up, let them play a game, see where they're at, let them assess and go back down to work on areas they need to.

Let’s hope the Devils don’t win the lottery again

Lol I know I'll never hear the end of it from my friends if they do. But somehow i see them making the playoffs, or they will lose hall.

Hall should walk away from that nightmare while he has a chance.

I'm sure he will.

Who is going to be stopping the pucks on that team for the next 10 years ?!

We arent gonna make the playoffs one day and win the cup. Its gonna come in gradual steps. The young players need experience at some point. I'm not necessarily saying that's this year but I wouldn't sabotage the team from doing it. I also wouldn't sabbatoge the future by keeping Kreider and losing him to free agency. As I said before the team will dictate where we are at, players develop at different rates and you have to make the jump when it happens, you cant put a definitive time frame on it.

Why are we trying to force Shestyorkin into the roster when we already have 2 goalies? The best option is if he plays the whole year in the AHL.

Why would any player in Minnesota block a trade to NYC?
:shakehead Minnesota is a great place to play. He’s been there 15 years. His number will be the first number that the Wild will ever retire and this is probably his last year. He is beloved in Minnesota. You tell me why he would want to walk away from all of that and play out half his last season in the league with a rebuilding team.

If he goes anywhere (doubtful) it will be to a prime Cup contender.
