Yeah. Me too. Especially considering who was GM for him at the time...
Not sure you would know this, but is the WN situation distracting teams from other goings on. I am sure Gorts is still working phones on moving our other assets and not fully focusing on WN. Do you know who might be going next, or who might be calling GMJG for help.

It's possible but a lot of teams are simply out on Nylander because of his potential cap hit. Tough add in the middle of the season. How many teams are willing to trade and negotiate by dec 1? I'm sure a deal would be agreed prior to a trade, but has anyone even started talks in case they trade? Probably not.

So a bunch of teams probably aren't derailed by WN.

I know it’s a little early to be doing this but I’m already looking at the 2019 draft. A few players jump out to me as guys Gordie and co. would seem to like. Cozens, Boldy, Podkolzin are three guys I’d love to have (not counting Hughes and Kakko as I doubt we’ll have a top 2 pick). If we get a pick in the 4-8 range we could walk away with another great piece. Ideally we could get another situation like this past draft with a top ten pick and then another pick or two later on in the first round.

So many shades of Trouba here. He'll re-sign with Toronto which is probably best for everyone involved. Except for Toronto since their D is not going to sniff a championship.

Yeah, one year deal, same thing next year, another bridge contract, same thing, a couple of dirty arbitration, more speculation, then in 2026 something may happen... ;) (yes I will bookmark this post so that I can quote it in 7 years and say ‘I called it’)

What people actually said was that Chytil was better off in Hartford if he was going to play 6 minutes a night in the NHL. Which is still true. Now he is playing in a top-9 role which is great.
This sentece is a quote from the article.. and you are right. Lias is in almost the same situation with his TOI.

Guess he is not being ruined after all.

Also, a case can be made that right now Hayes is the best Rangers all around forward.
TBH given the choice, I would trade Zibby over Hayes because he will bring back more in a trade, and Hayes is not that far off from Zibby as a player.

and I am a fan of Zibanejad.

We don’t have anything that Toronto needs. Three-way trades are back in style I guess.

I like Hayes a lot. I also think Zibanejad has become a hell of a two-way center, and is really knocking on the #1C door. On the PK though Hayes is just hilariously good. Like one of the best PK forwards in the league lol

Next people are going to gripe about rushing Fogarty.

I'd keep Hayes. Re-sign him and trade him in 2-3 years if needed. You could compete with Zibs-Hayes-Howden down the middle.

The NYR are going to do everything they can to compete.

The Coyotes just lost Jason Demers for the season last night. They have Goligoski and Chychrun already out. Demers has 2 years left on his deal @ $3.9375m Could the Rangers interest the Coyotes in a Smith exchange for Demers? The Coyotes have cap space. It gives Arizona help for this year, Smith plays either side. Contracts are somewhat similar (Rangers save ~$400k), perhaps the Coyotes give an additional piece for the help this year on the back-end. The Rangers open up a d-spot for this year while saving some cap space.

I wonder if Arizona would trade Crouse along with Demers (IR - out for season) for Smith. Arizona is at the 50 contract limit, that type of deal would also give them another contract spot open in case they want to add later in the year.

As soon as the King has his average month, you will all come back to earth and realize we are for sure selling at the TDL and we are not a playoff team. We are winning games that we should not be winning, honestly.
The King is sitting just below his career average. So he's having an average month and a half already.

secretly coveting defensive ready prospect? For what purpose? We already have 8 D, and a bunch of prospects.

What do you mean for 'what purpose'? If you are satisfied with our D, then that's really sad. Our D is nothing special. The defensive prospects in the pipeline still have a *LONG* way to go. Our D pipeline needs to continue to grow. We can't just keep adding offensive assets without recouping the D.
