I’d rather Moore than either of those. Nastier and more mobile.Yup. Exactly why we need a roster player like Cole or De Haan. I'm not confident about Smith figuring it out at all. I hope he does. It helps him and helps the Rangers.

9. Kotkaniemi/Tkachuk/Wahlstrom - I think one of this trio falls to us. Our concerted effort to grab defensive prospects in TDL deals I argue points to us wanting to draft forward at 9 (or higher)
26 & 30. Bode Wilde/Ty Smith/Kravstov/Kaut/Kupari - I grouped these two picks together because they are so close. These are the players that I think could be around at the time we pick here, but likely that at least 3 of them are already taken.
Also, Denisenko is player to watch here. The Rangers brass showed no fear in drafting someone higher than other draft boards have someone (hello my beautiful son Filip) because they like the guy. Denisenko is a player who you get much more out of watching him play than watching the scoresheet. Also, the Rangers have certainly shown a certain flair for Eastern Europeans lately - they have solid scouting over there that some other teams around the NHL seemingly lack.
2nd rounders. Niklas Nordgren, this guy is Zucc 2.0, I'd be shocked if we didn't have him thoroughly scouted. Isac Lundestrom, a solid all around player from SHL where we have a heavy scouting department. Jan Jenik, I just personally like this guy, very young, fell down some boards because of missing part of the year due to illness, he is more of a development player and I see that fitting perfectly with us because of the amount of prospects we will have graduating within the next 16 months.
Boy, I disagree with this. He’s a salt of the earth player who would help the rebuild along. Team leader wherever he has played. Not a top pair defenseman but very dependable. Big contributor to the Penguins in Cup runs and played very well for Columbus late this year. Keep in mind this is relative, great value for 2 years@$3MMIan Cole wouldn’t bring much of anything. Maybe he could hold a third pair spot, but he'd get sat occasionally. I’ve watched him for a while now, rooted for him as a Blues prospect. He’s depth and nothing more.
Wow that’s so not true. He was given every chance for a few seasons and couldn’t crack the top six in St. Louis on a consistent basis. Pittsburgh took a chance on him because of their cap situation and he still didn’t earn a spot for long. They moved him after just two seasons. He’s decent depth but nothing more.Boy, I disagree with this. He’s a salt of the earth player who would help the rebuild along. Team leader wherever he has played. “Some teams that don’t want to go in free agency… they have called Montreal and asked about Max Pacioretty,” Friedman said during the second intermission of Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final.
Pacioretty has one year remaining on his contract and will be an unrestricted free agent next summer. Friedman reports that some teams interested in trading for him are also asking about a potential sign-and-trade with the Canadiens to guarantee Paccioretty’s services for more than one year.
“I think (teams) are also wondering… what he might want as an extension,” Friedman said. “So I think there’s been some asking about the possibility for a sign-and-trade for Pacioretty. So we’ll see where that goes.”
No.
14+19 for 9 I would seriously consider.
I’m not really sure what FAs we will target. A couple of drafted players could figure into the equation for next year. How many veterans will we have left? Lots of moving parts.
I could see scenarios where a number of different guys make sense. I like Ian Cole. If no Kovalchuk, JVR on a Shattenkirk contract becomes a possibility. Grabner and Nash are certainly possible. I just don’t know.
The more players the Rangers move in the next 20 days, the more robust the free agent shopping list will be.
From what little I've heard, Smith us likely in the first half and Wilde 11-20. Consensus... no chance they go to 39th. Seems less likely Tkachuk goes past 5 or 6. 9th? just on pedigree, no. Unless, is he injury-prone or something?Pretty decent chance both of those guys are gone at 19.
No chance Tkachuk or Wahlstrom fall to us. Also no chance Ty Smith is there in the 20's, he's not getting past 12.9. Kotkaniemi/Tkachuk/Wahlstrom - I think one of this trio falls to us. I've been on that horn for a while now. He's literally the perfect fit for the Rangers. Problem is he won't get to us unless we move up to Arizona/Detroit.I’d really like to see the rangers make a move to get Oliver Wahlstrom. This team hasn’t seen a 40 goal scorer since 14’ in rick Nash and a 70 point player since 11’ in Marian gaborik. Not saying wahlstrom is a lock for either of those milestones but he sure has the highest ceiling of all forwards in the draft not named zadina or svechnikov. With arguably the best shot in the draft it’d be cool to see a home grown elite scorer in a blueshirt
I'd like that... sign him and if he struggles, deal him for Laine, Kucherov or someone else trying to carve out a niche as a top-six W in the NHL... throw in the 3rd, done deal. Seriously, Moore is a good option... just tie his elbows down.I’d rather Moore than either of those. Nastier and more mobile.
I’ve seen articles on the athletic about Detroit’s willingness to move up and down the top 10 and I’m sure if we take on a contract from Ottawa in the process of moving up to 4 melnyk would walk Dorion over to our table on draft day to make the deal. (Joking) but there’s options. And in the past we’ve seen JG have deals lined up that fell through like McD for hall and #4OA (Keller) until pulj fell into their lap. So if they truly feel that he’s a fit I can see them making the moveI've been on that horn for a while now. He's literally the perfect fit for the Rangers. I just wish I knew what their thinking was. I'm literally all over the map with what their board looks like and what they value. I like that Jeff talks about character, but I just hope they don't over value non athletic traits enough to make a bad choice. Like, I like Tkachuk but I don't like him at 3/4 but I do love him at 7-9.I’ve seen articles on the athletic about Detroit’s willingness to move up and down the top 10 and I’m sure if we take on a contract from Ottawa in the process of moving up to 4 melnyk would walk Dorion over to our table on draft day to make the deal. This being said, I’m eager to see how Lindgren, Hajek, Rykov, Bigras and Day all look in camp. Yeah talk like that leads me to believe they’ll never take guys like merkley or mascherin even if their value is way higher than the selection we’d use on them but when it comes to our first choice I think we need to select a forward with the highest ceiling. We passed on Mittlestadt last year and got our guy, now it’s time to roll the dice and get a guy you can potentially build aroundI just wish I knew what their thinking was. Do you count Pedrie out? What if Bereglazov is a new guy in the fall? This being said, I’m eager to see how Lindgren, Hajek, Rykov, Bigras and Day all look in camp. One or more could make a push.
I think Pedrie, Zborovskiy, and Crawley are earmarked for Hartford (or Greeneville) but will get a look too, sure. Bereglazov’s contract was terminated, he’s not coming back.Do you count Pedrie out? What if Bereglazov is a new guy in the fall?
No.

Correct me if I'm wrong that Chytil's ELC can slide a year and so he'll be in the AHL all of next year?
This is my big fear also... when we picked McIlrath (not trying to start a thing here) I remember them talking about his character and grit. I’m not saying McIlrath wasn’t athletic but we need top end skill not someone who speaks well, wears a monacle and knows which fork is for salad.I just wish I knew what their thinking was.
