We probably have the pieces right now to make an offer for Karlsson that doesn’t in turn cripple us. We also have a couple of big holes in our top 4. I think he’d be motivated to play with Hank and Zib.

Imagine adding both Karlsson and Kovalchuk to this roster.
Stop with the Kovchuk

If both OEL and Karlsson are gonna be traded or potentially traded maybe it wasn't such a bad idea to trade McDonagh at the TDL.
I don't care if we sign Kovalchuk or not unless its more than 2 years term.
Karlsson I still feel is gonna take 2 very good young players/prospects and at least and our best first rounder possibly more. NO THANK YOU!!!
We must proceed with the rebuild. I'm not trading away any first rounders from 2017, 2018 and 2019. So that means no Chytil, Andersson, 3 picks this year and hopefully 1-2 first rounders in 2019.

Who thinks we'll sign a guy like Sustr or even Carlson?

No on Carlson. That would be counterproductive and whoa that would be a lot of money tied up in the top-2 RD between him and Shattenkirk

Maybe Sustr but I’d prefer someone like Orpik if Washington will pay for the Rangers to take him or Ian Cole if he’ll take a short contract.

0Given that the playoffs and not the SCF, will likely be the goal next season. is someone like Brooks Orpik even a realistic option?0. I've seen it mentioned but thought it was from all-out tanking perspective. As I said after the Stepan trade, NYR tanking will probably never happen again, as long as Dolan is alive. I'm assuming he can still play? Haven't watched a game since April.

People will try and tell you that Orpik is decent, but he’s reallllly bad. Worse than Staal bad.

I mean, I’d take his contract for an asset, especially considering he only has one year left, but make no mistakes - he sucks, and even on a defense as thin as this one, should be a healthy scratch.

I hope they give Beleskey every shot to carve out some type of role on this team. He’s on a contract year.

Imagine being able to flip him at the DL for even a 4th or 5th? Found money.
Just traded Holden for a 3rd at the deadline so it is certainly a possibility

So at 9 we have Fara, Kotk, Bouch left on the board
The flyers really want one of these guys
They offer 14,19 for our 9 and 39
Take it??
I would need to see the whole board but my gut instinct is yes. You get to turn whoever you were picking at 39 into Bode Wilde or Ty Smith

Quinn's kind of a black box until we see him in the NHL but I feel like with his style he'd rather have more puckmovers (even if they're ADA and Gilmour) than Staal, Smith and Orpik as half the team's defensemen. If Smith can't crack this team's opening day lineup then something's up with him.

Rather eat a contract for the fourth line, someone like Lehtera or Cally. But I guess I like the fringe defensemen we have more than I like Lettieri and Nieves

9. Kotkaniemi/Tkachuk/Wahlstrom - I think one of this trio falls to us. Our concerted effort to grab defensive prospects in TDL deals I argue points to us wanting to draft forward at 9 (or higher)

26 & 30. Bode Wilde/Ty Smith/Kravstov/Kaut/Kupari - I grouped these two picks together because they are so close. These are the players that I think could be around at the time we pick here, but likely that at least 3 of them are already taken.
Also, Denisenko is player to watch here. The Rangers brass showed no fear in drafting someone higher than other draft boards have someone (hello my beautiful son Filip) because they like the guy. Denisenko is a player who you get much more out of watching him play than watching the scoresheet. Also, the Rangers have certainly shown a certain flair for Eastern Europeans lately - they have solid scouting over there that some other teams around the NHL seemingly lack.

2nd rounders. Niklas Nordgren, this guy is Zucc 2.0, I'd be shocked if we didn't have him thoroughly scouted. Isac Lundestrom, a solid all around player from SHL where we have a heavy scouting department. Jan Jenik, I just personally like this guy, very young, fell down some boards because of missing part of the year due to illness, he is more of a development player and I see that fitting perfectly with us because of the amount of prospects we will have graduating within the next 16 months.

Ian Cole wouldn’t bring much of anything. Maybe he could hold a third pair spot, but he'd get sat occasionally. I’ve watched him for a while now, rooted for him as a Blues prospect. He’s depth and nothing more.

Roster spot is all we'd need out of him or De Haan. Either is better than Kampfer.

I guess it's also dependent on what version of Brendan Smith we get in September.

26&30 - absolute pipe dream. Outside of Kravstov all the others will be gone. Smith and Wilde will go top-15. This is why majority of people get all upset immediately after the draft.
