If you can acquire him by sending Mika back in part of the package, you do it. You can always flip him to some WC team Vancouver didn’t want to deal him too.

It's a no brainer "my problem for your problem" trade if it's on the table. but it wont be a magic bullet like some will claim Pettersson is. he is another slacker. You can tell when he plays. Meat left on the bone. He was far more dynamic 2-3 years ago.

Between MacTavish and Zegras I'd easily take MacTavish. He can play a hard game. If I were Anaheim I wouldn't give him up easily. I think he takes our 1st in the draft + something else but he might be worth it depending if we're top 10 or top 3. If we're top 3 maybe not.

I don't know how we get rid of Zibanejad. It's not even if he started getting points again. His play away from the puck has been horrific.

That very well may be true. The plus side is with his age, it will make it a lot easier to move him if he doesn’t click with us.

perreault is kinda american panarin tho
Maybe, but he's also 19 and will be dirt cheap for at least 3 years.

Our biggest issue vis-a-vis Panarin is that he can't make space for himself in the playoffs, and we don't have the players around him to make the space for him. Hopefully we will do a better job building the next core.

I keep thinking Columbus for Zibanejad. Cap space. Need for a veteran. He’d fit in well and there is little pressure there. JD knows him well. He’s signed for a good term which will be attractive for a team that doesn’t have great success in UFA. Would Zibanejad waive for a team like Columbus to get a fresh start?

Does Pagnotta have any sources? He said Zib's is open to waiving his NMC for certain teams. Sorry if this was already posted.

pls God, let this be true = Mika traded!

zibaneiad for pettersson and a 1st
get real
zib sucks ass, does not merit pett, a 1st or a pett/1st combo

Neither do I, and I'm not interested in spending the assets it would take to acquire him.

I would be really careful about adding any player long term before this summer. Let's see how the draft and free agency shakes out, and what players we are able to move and what we get back.

In other words, let's do that one thing we never do: have patience.
like it or not, this is a page from team bern's no no no win now overreaches

....
Id trade Miller straight up for McTavish yesterday. That kid is the next Bennet when they get him out of Anaheim
unlike useless Zib, KAM has talent and value
and we have seen him do well enuf for long enuf stretches that we can deduce he is not all tools, no tool box. He needs correct partner/system and try not to do too much

I consider moving at right price, which may not be overpay, but MUST be signif coming back here.
Let us not compound stupidity of selling short on KK with giving away KAM

That said, McTavish, who is a worthy get, will cost more than KAM 1:1. Remember ANA is NOT desperate. No basis to believe McT is on the table, other than in ordinary cost of business

Only 1 way: he waives, which he does if he is forced to sit [not play lower lines], SIT SIT. Have to pay him don't have to play him, and given pisspoor results not justifying playing time, benching him for as long as it takes is the move

Of course MZ waiving is not enuf. Gotta find a buyer.
That means min full max retain 8.5->4.25 for scraps, and prob paying third team to eat towards half-ish 1.75 per for each yr remaining [more on that later]
but that should do it

Ryan Lindgren now has more goals than Kreider has assists on the season.
I think it’s evident CK is dealing with a back injury. Obviously playing with a Center who has pretty much checked out doesn’t help. Not saying CK isn’t having a down year but he average what over 49 goals over the past few seasons and one of the better Rangers in recent history so it’s tough to completely shut in him

Don't think that is evident at all.

He wouldn't have been a "healthy" scratch the other night if he was dealing with an injury.

It's just an excuse people want to give him. He's been ass, call it like it is. He's butthurt that Drury took away the "Country Club" so he doesn't give a shit anymore.

Nobody is taking that contract unless we eat half of it. Dude has regressed rapidly the past few years and is checked out

I disagree. I know you’ve never been a fan of his which is your right but the way he is moving isn’t normal fir him. Is he hacung a good year? No I’m not disputing that but he literally missed games with back issues. That doesn’t go away. I dealt with back issues playing basketball and it lasts a while. It’s not about him being “lazy”. I feel that’s a bullshit narrative since 201

Zib and Kreider waiving to the same team makes sense no ?
For Zib and Kreider, maybe. That's a lot of cap space going the other way. Columbus has a lot of cap space, but that doesn't mean they want to blow most of it on those 2 players.

Maybe if we retain on one or both, but the way Mika is playing, I'm not sure any team will be willing to roll the dice on him. We're probably better off trading Kreider for actual assets of value rather than using him as an incentive to dump Mika.

We'll probably have no choice but to let Mika stick around for another year, at least. Maybe he'll take the off-season to find himself and he'll come to camp more motivated and look more like the player he was a couple years ago. Or maybe he'll continue to suck, and we'll have to figure out how to get rid of him.

Mika does need to get back to the gym. He looks significantly slimmer from 2 years ago. I know some guys change their workouts as they get older to slim out so they can try to keep speed, but Mika has never had a speed problem. He is a great skater and he needs to get his muscle back. He can return to form, but it would take a full summer and a rethink on his training.
