This is absolutely blowing up in Vancouver right now by the way.
Looks like Pettersson is available
Allvin went on blast basically, Not sure what you guys would offer, or how seriously you would be interested, He would obviously need a Haul.
But, just thought I would share and get your guys opinions!
Not everyday a 90+ Center with great Defensive abilities becomes available.

Thoughts?
Sounds an awful lot like old Mika, for good and bad.

For Miller, it has to be Mika 1 for 1. If it's Pettersson, we'd be willing to add more, but you still have to take Mika.

If Mika is unwilling to waive for Vancouver, no deal. Bringing in an expensive top 6 center without moving Mika makes no sense.

Of all the crappy beat writers we’ve had over the years, Staple is hands down the worst in my book. The guy has no clue when it comes to player evaluation and mock trades.
He used to be good. He is terrible.

Everything blows up Vancouver. Check with Don Waddell in Columbus. Waddell wanted Pettersson when he was running Carolina.

I’m kinda making peace with the fact that Mika might wind up being a Minnesota-like buyout, where you just want the roster spot and to get him out of the locker room. If the season continues to spiral out of control and they win the lottery it would be more palatable. It just sucks that the cap is going to be going up and we can’t really take advantage of it.

Then again who knows. It’s a dumb league with dumb people making dumb decisions.

Zib needs to stop overthinking
He’s the type to start getting points again but it’s streaky and hard to win with that

I don’t really want Petterson. Great talent. But a locker room issue, didn’t perform in the playoffs. I know we need a center long term but I don’t know, I feel like a better option will shake loose. I don’t see him being the answer

Neither do I, and I'm not interested in spending the assets it would take to acquire him.

I would be really careful about adding any player long term before this summer. Let's see how the draft and free agency shakes out, and what players we are able to move and what we get back.

In other words, let's do that one thing we never do: have patience.

Carolina, Buffalo, and Detroit all have 10 times the assets the Rangers do in any Pettersson deal. Wouldn't get my hopes up.

I'd go for Petterrsson but he seems like he'd be more of the same as the malcontent's we already have. I think Cozens should Buffalo should be the guy the Rangers go hard after at center. McTavish from the Ducks too.

Cozens has one hot outlier year and other than that is a 9% shooter.

For reference, Trochek who everyone considers a volume shooter and not a goal scorer is 11%+as a Ranger and 10.7% for his career.

He's just a guy.

The GM calling him out essentially for slacking off after signing his big contract. Western Conference Mika. Do you think the Canucks players will start crying and give up the season because their GM called them out (despite also being in a playoff spot)? Hockey is different in NY

McTavish, yes, depending on the cost. They aren't going to want any of our older players. Maybe Miller would be an option.

Cozens only if they take Mika.

Get him out of Buffalo and thank me later.

Id trade Miller straight up for McTavish yesterday. That kid is the next Bennet when they get him out of Anaheim

This team is picking top in June

Hagens!

As for Pettersson, his NMC doesn't kick in until July 1st. He's currently hurt and is considered day to day though he didn't travel with the team on their current road trip that starts tonight. Not much details on the injury though these comments by the GM are interesting timing wise.

Pettersson is having an off year so far by his standards, 10 goals and 28 points in 34 games (0.82 point per game pace).

If you can acquire him by sending Mika back in part of the package, you do it. You can always flip him to some WC team Vancouver didn’t want to deal him too.
