I think Granlund would only really be an option if he took a one or two year deal to try and pump up his value and the Rangers dealt Buchnevich and he was the replacement. Great playmaker from the wing, wouldn't hurt to have another Finn to make Kakko comfortable, but he's not a center in the NHL.

Someone will give him a better deal than that on the open market.
There will be a ton of one year deals this summer.

On the 31 Thoughts Podcast they were discussing how many GM's believe there will be a good number of RFA's not qualified including someone like Athansiou from Edmonton. I wonder who else would be on that list.
They mentioned Montour as well.

Guys who I could see not being qualified:
Evan Rodriguez
Mark Jankowski
Brandon Montur
Adreas Athansiou
Devin Shore

I wonder about:
Radek Faksa
Vinnie Hinostrozza
Drake Caggiula
Mirco Mueller

I wonder if Columbus would be interested in a Strome for Andersson trade. Thy have done a god job squeezing as much offense out of their team as possible and they have a ton of 2-way gritty forwards already signed. They signed Nyquist last off-season to come in a try to help with some offense and he had a decent first season but with Andersson's contract issues in the past and the fact that he is 1 year from UFA, I wonder if they would prefer a guy like Strome who could come in and slot on their 2nd line, wing or center and help put up some points for the next 3-4 years (assuming they can come to a contractual agreement)

So Quinn complimented Staal in a recent interview. So he’s staying

And boy do they love Howden

3rd pair and 4th line sure

Speaking of Columbus, I wonder how much Ryan Murray would cost, Columbus is loaded with LHD and Murray is 1 year away from UFA at a 4.6M cap hit with Dubois up for RFA. He'd be a good fit outside of the injury issues.

Thought he looked really strong in the play-in round as well as against the Leafs. If he could stay healthy he'd be a great addition but the guy is made of glass. It's not even like it's something chronic that different doctors might be able to figure out. He's just brittle as hell.

A Bonus, B Bonus?
Keep the pick JD!
Keep the pick.

he never said anything about not picking him...he was responded to a comment about the benefit of getting a top player on a ELC and he pointed out the reality that if the player is actually that good it isn't as cheap as people think....but that applies to any high pick that is good.

Gerardi was a warrior, he could teach these guys a lot about d-zone positioning and taking away shooting lanes, etc, but I think the team wants to go with a more aggressive puck pressuring system. Gerardi could end up running that side of the bench for Torts or Sullivan one day.
