Our discussions with Trouba's camp for a contract extension is priority #1 before even getting down to the nitty-gritty of any trade negotiation; if we can pin them down to a solid contract for the Rangers then I'm more inclined to pay certain prices (not the Brooks' price); the higher the contract demand, the less I'm inclined to pay. We're here to make a deal to make our team better, not to bid against ourselves to take on a contract negotiation burden/nightmare that has plagued Winnipeg for the last half decade.

Edit: I'd also bet dollars to donuts that Trouba needs a NTC for some years in his contract

Trouba's camp agrees to sign a 5 years, 6.5 per year deal with a 3 year full NTC if traded to the Rangers

Pionk + Howden + Dallas 2nd* for Trouba
*willing to change it to 20th overall if we get + Roslovic

Skjei and Kreider were both better than him
Hayes and Zucc if we are counting players that were traded
But I agree, ADA got better and better as the season went on, but he certainly still showed growing pains

The thing is, they are not very high on Myers. He is a Texas kid, a few weeks from July 1. Like 6’538. RD. He has played well the last seasons and been healthy. He is the same age now as Chara was when Boston signed him as a UFA from Ottawa. Will he really resign before July 1 in Winnipeg? And if he gets to that point where other teams can talk with him, it just seem like he is the type that someone will give an expensive contract.

Myers have been treated as some back-up plan for Trouba. In fact, after Karlsson he is certainly one of the top RDs out there on the market.

If I was betting on it, I would bet that he is gone for Winnipeg.

Maybe, and like it’s of course all matter of definition. But Kreider certainly had a very looooong quite period at the end during which he did absolutely nothing, and Skjei had a rough start and never took off.

I just think that TDA more or less every time he hit the ice and played well, and on some nights he was the offensive threat we had that really could break things open.
