Chances are far greater that Miller needs more than one more season of before he is ready for NHL duty.

You think that Andersson is ready to take Strome's spot? Barron will probably need a year or so in Hartford. Kravstov needs to knock the door down in camp. Lafreniere is neither a center nor RW. You want to simply hand 2nd line assignments to any of these names?

Chytil is 20 years old and has the luxury of being put next to Panarin. Better than extending Strome to a contract we will regret.

DeAngelo is safer on a bridge, we can’t be paying a defenseman on our 3rd pair 5 million a year long term.

Maybe Miller needs more time, maybe he doesn’t, still doesn’t mean we should be trading for LHD and clogging spots for our prospects. It’s the deepest position in our prospect pool.

I never said I wanted Lias taking Stromes spot, in theory it would be Chytil and Lias and Howden would be 3-4 centers

Lafreniere will have Panarin and Kreider ahead of him so I have no clue how you put him on the 2nd line in my proposal. Actually none of them would get a second line assignment seeing as how we already have Panarin, Kreider, Zibanejad, Chytil, Buchnevich, Kakko.

Selfishly, I'm extremely happy the organization's desire to be smart and competitive the last two seasons has worked out. Last year, they win the final game of the season against Pittsburgh lose a draft spot, end up picking 2nd instead of 5th or 6th and end up with Kakko. This year, if they sell at the deadline or don't sign Panarin they're probably a lottery team and miss out on Lafreniere. Funny how the universe works out sometimes.

Anyone interested in giving Mikael Granlund a 1 year prove it deal with salary bonuses? Guy can play center and looked really good until last year. Good me a upgrade on Strome. Also wouldn't mind giving Big Buff a 1 year deal.
 
In a span of 13 months players added to the team: Kakko, Panarin, Trouba, Fox, Shesty. Now you gonna top the cake with Laf. Im speechless.

It certainly makes the Lias pick sting less. Hell even if Kravtsov busts now, I’ll probably forget about it.

Based on what? That anyone can morph into a 70 point center being by simply existing on the ice as Panarin?

What is the regret when it comes to Stome?

That little narrative has been proven to be patently false. One would never believe he is a third pairing defense man when one sees his ice time.

History tells you that such straight jumps into the NHL rarely result in success. In fact, they can set players back. Who is a spot being clogged for? Who is knocking on the door on LD?

You listed Andersson as one of people to take Strome's and Fast's place.

You are the one who listed Lafreniere as one to get a shot to replace Strome or Fast. As both were on the second line and play either center or wing, I am not clear how he is to be a candidate to replace either.

Neither Chytil nor Kakko are on the second line right now. And based on last year, that is as it should be.

Even the Lias pick i can accept a bit more because it was a pretty weak draft to be honest. It explains why Arizona was so willing to trade the 7th overall pick
 
We NEED to solidify our #3 Center position. We can’t afford a real good #2. So if Mika goes down for a short time, I trust Panarin will help Strome cover for a potential absence. We need to make sure our center depth can step up when others go down. We don’t need truly elite center depth. I can settle with Strome as our #2 guy, just make sure our depth can step up and not miss a beat in a bigger role.
