As I said in the draft thread go after Sheary. He's a Cup winner with speed who isn't ancient. He'll help.

I've loved Nieto since draft year. He's going to most likely go deep and potentially a WCF or SCF if all things go well. Bottom 6ers with speed who is a zillion times better than McKeg.

Girgensons is a good reclamation project.

3,5,Tkachuk and LA likes Stuzle and I'm thinking about it!
I mean Tkachuk is a beast. Like Seriously a beast. I know the Sens would do 3,5 and another prospect but Tkachuk is probably untouchable.
Being said We just can't trade this pick but if we did Ottawa would be my trading partner no doubt about it.

Hello, lurker here with my first post.

In a scenario where Florida goes nuclear, how would you guys feel about:

to NYR: Barkov, Stillman
to FLA: 1st OA, CAR 1st Rounder, Strome, Andersson

Sign DeAngelo long term at a reasonable AAV, Re-sign Fast, Dump Buchnevich for a cheaper wing.

Panarin - Zibanejad - Fast
Kreider - Barkov - Kakko
xxxx - Chytil - xxxx
xxxx - Howden - Gauthier

Lindgren - Trouba
Stillman - Fox
Staal - DeAngelo

We’re underestimating the importance of having high-production players on entry level contracts. Particularly with the flat cap and big $ decision to make in the next couple of years. It’s another reason the Laf pick is so big for NYR.

Cirelli solves some of the biggest glaring holes for this team
Cirelli would be terrific but how much is he gonna cost? I know it would mean subtracting Buch's and Strome's money which I am ok with. Cirelli is on another level from those two guys.

The big question in my mind is whether or not they see Chytil as a center going forward or not. They've always said that they did, and he had a great year in HFD, but he still has a lot of room to grow. I really liked that they had him killing penalties, I thought that was a big step and it's something Chytil can become very good at... provided he gets better on face-offs.

That said, that size, speed, and shot off the wing might make him a far more dangerous offensive catalyst right now instead of waiting for him to develop. Would love to hear what you have to say on this.

I think they prefer him at center, and still want to make that work. Frankly, it makes their life so much easier.

My doubts remain.

What were Gorton's comments about the lottery that makes ppl think Buch is getting moved?

OMG I CANNOT BELIEVE WE WON!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry Kaapo you're old news now buddy:naughty:

I believe it was the comment about how the way we lost might mean some changes are needed. They want to get harder to play against. There are only so many spots available and Buch is probably the most realistic player to be traded who still has quality value.

Thanks and agreed, I'd love to see it pan out. Are the doubts around vision?

IE being able to be a playmaker? Or something along the lines of a longer development curve?

In that scenario we'd be moving on from Strome, he won't fetch a bunch but he has the 1 year RFA and can easily be moved to another team. Buch I imagine we keep going with short term bridge deals, it just makes the most sense (unless he is traded).

Tampa is looking at cap issues. Kravstov and the Carolina 1st is not a bad place to start for them at all.

I missed this- someone mentioned Gorts said something following the lottery win. Can someone summarize please?

Buch was noticeable away from the puck during the series. Strome was completely invisible other than a few passes involving Panarin. Nobody expects Strome to light the world on fire, but that is the most obvious area to me.

Hardly ever do you trade same positions for each other to get an upgrade. Trading Buch for an upgrade at wing seems unlikely. We have extra prospects and picks that can be used to address the upgrade needed, and then the player that they are replacing can be moved for something else.

If I could waive a magic wand I would prefer the Rangers add a guy who can play that north/south game with an edge in place of Strome and keep Buch. Unfortunately it's a hell of a lot harder to find that guy at center than it is on the wing. The Rangers are also much deeper on the wings than they are at center right now

I don't think they'd end up swapping Buch for another winger. Probably something where he's moved in a package for a center or LD. Then maybe another deal with TDA going to get the type of player they want on the wing.

So who's the odd winger out next year? We don't have room for all of Lemieux, Gauthier, Fast and Kravtsov. If Kravtsov can put it together then there are some tough decisions to make.

You are correct about needing ELC players, but Barkov is a known quantity who still has two years left of being one of the most underpaid players in the league. Plus, we'd still have Kakko, Kravstov, Miller and others with ELC years left and guys like Howden, Igor, and Chytil on the bridge.

I still would rather have the elite 1C at 5.9m over the question mark winger for 3 years at 1m.

I mean ELC years don't mean anything if your team isn't seriously competing and all he's doing is racking up points in prep for a blockbuster contract by year 4.

I'd look into moving Carolina's first (if it's low enough...) and a combination of other things to move up and grab Lundell if he's available in a spot where we can find a good dance partner...

Maybe I'm too high on him but even though he's labeled as a "safe pick" and we have learned to hate that word because of Andersson, I think he'd be a good fit and will be a center we can actually potentially package something decent for.

I know there are way better centers in the draft, but this is something I see as more realistic.

Strome for Zadarov
Kravstov + Carolina 1st for Cirelli

I think the most intriguing thing in all this is we still have another first round pick. We have the potential to make so many moves.

Roughly 2 years ago we were told that we were going into a rebuild. Fast forward to today, never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined the rangers have one of (if not) the best systems in the league.

Weirdly enough I'd kicked around that Cirelli deal in my head as well, but it might be a little rich for the Rangers. Zadorov is great for some big hits, but I don't really see a place for him in our lineup.

Zadorov blows.

I'd make that deal for Cirelli. I think they would want Nils though as RD is super thin for them.

Basically the question was does the way you lost affect what you do in the off-season

He said yea they need to be harder to play against so they will take a look at things

Great thank you, and yes I agree.

That was a soft showing. Might as well have wore baker's hats instead of helmets. Looked like a group that was out there trying to push out as many pastry puffs as they could given how many delicate little turnovers being produced.

They got swept out so early that you might as well brand it as a school yard trip for the kids where they learned what it takes to see how a motivated and well prepared team that plays together came out to play via a first person experience.

That being said, what more could you ask for:

Absolutely loved that video. When you are concerned about your number 1 overall pick being a guy who is overly physical, and may get suspended throughout his career. I mean... that's a franchise player. That's the type of franchise player the whole fan base can get around.
