Yea I just don’t see them giving up 4 1st round picks
And that is the only tier of offer sheet compensation we can afford

Lias being moved for Trouba wouldn't be "moving on" from him; you have to give good pieces to get good piecesI'm not really ready to move on from Lias yet.
Maybe in a package for a #1 D or top line forward, but I don't see Trouba as that. I see him as more of a #2/#3 D.
The part of the article that intrigued me the most was Gorton’s comment;
“There’s also the (10%) allowance where you can go over the cap. We are not looking at as if we can only make one big move or addition. We’ll see where it goes.”
Hmmm...
That doesn’t sound like someone who is simply going to mail in his draft picks.
I think the Rangers are more interested in live bodies than retired ones right now. The 10% allowance is over $8MM. That's enough in and of itself for Hossa and Horton with plenty left over. In fact, Horton is already summer LTIR so he has essentially no cap implications.the 10% allowance mainly applies to LTIR guys that count over the summer...so if anything that tells you they are looking at taking on a bad contract.

Not only this, but if you talk like you’re in the bidding for UFAs, you drive up the price that other teams will have to pay. That makes other, better assets available to you.the 10% allowance mainly applies to LTIR guys that count over the summer...so if anything that tells you they are looking at taking on a bad contract.
I'm very Pro Panarin, but other than that I hate all this news.
I don't want to trade four first rounders for anyone, let alone Point. I would consider trading, maybe even be in favor of it. I mean, I'll give them #20, a prospect, and a future first maybe (not next year's), but that's a non-starter for them I'm sure.
I would much rather move Kreider for a top-10-ish pick rather than a Trouba-level defender. Maybe that's just not possible.
And most of all, even though I want Panarin, I don't like them in the mindset that they are gonna be back in the playoffs this year, or trying that hard for it. Even though I'm Pro-Panarin, I think they should settle in for another nice bottom-10 finish with the kids. And then make a consolidation trade into the top 3-5 next year for a top center or #1 D.
You can interpret it how you want but Gorton hasn’t swayed AT ALL from patience and build and core.
If u wanna read accelerate or UFA u can but he’s never (nor has JD) said anything close to that.
Patience is what they both say but tea leaves and such
Had to double check that wasn’t a spoof accountZibanejad for 1 year of Trouba? Cmon mannnnnn.
And even if he was willing to extend, that does not mean he was going to extend with other interested teams. So there is less leverage to ask for a player of Zibanejad’s caliber.
Yeah we’ll hold onto our 1C
Does he really want to play for Tortorella?
I wouldn't trade Zibanejad right now for Malkin, let alone Trouba.
I wouldn't trade anything for malkin. he's 33. so thats not a great comparison.
