I don't mean to be mean here but you should re-read the post. You don't need a standing 7th D-Man if you have multiple legit prospects 2.5 hrs away you can call up for short stints.

You should always have a standing 7th d-man with the team, it's reckless not to. The Rangers aren't always in New York and the Wolfpack aren't always in Hartford.

I don't think the Ducks would be interested in dropping that far just to offload a contract. Especially if they're taking a similar one back.

I was thinking more like Perry and a prospect for Shattenkirk and a lesser prospect.

Rangers probably have to retain on Shatty but honestly, it's fine. I'd like to try and include Vesey or Namestnikov in the deal and add if possible.

i think the plan with chytil should be let him start out as #3C this year, and if a month into the season he can't handle it, slide him onto #2LW and he's a winger.

i would like to see Krebs' as our 20th pick since he could slide due to injury. I would like to see him as #2C in future.

in 2 years when $14M opens up, that should be the cap space we use to resign kakko, kravtsov, chytil, andersson, young defensemen. don't buyout players now to create cap sapce we don't need. trading names, vesey is sufficient today to get buch. lemieux, tony under contract act sign a free agent. i will admit of my MANY ideas if put out here signing both EK and Panarin is outlandish, but I do see value in one of them + another smaller FA signing dependent on scenarios. (Panarin if we move Kreider, EK if we move shatty).

He cant stay healthy for the past few years and I'm not interested in locking a guy up long term at 30 years old on this young team. He isnt the old Karlsson. I'm okay on panarin if we move krieder bf again we are creating space by moving out ck to be able to sign panarin but honestly with the ridiculous deal that skinner got I'm very concerned with paying him 12 or 13 million aav. I love the kids game but he isnt on the level of McDavid and should we really be paying a top 25 forward top 5 money in the league?

Someone called me dumb, so I stopped responding. It's not worth my time. I am 34 years old. I can do better things with my time than to get sucked into a debate filled with snarky remarks, name-calling and condescending crap.

The whole "Do you even watch Ranger games?" comment is one I've had directed at me so often, I lost count. I think after all these years those people finally realize that, yes... I do watch them despite living in Europe. Just let it go man. If someone disagrees with you, move on.

i would never say an article on that website is garbage, in fact i thouroughly enjoy reading that website! i may disagree with people's opinions, but i don't get snotty about it and ask rhetorical, sarcastic questions meant to degrade someone else's ideas!

how i would disagree is not by calling anything "garbage" but by proposing a different idea contrasting the one that i don't necessarily agree with.

want me to send you my post when the rangers are in the playoffs 2020-2021. i'll ship it in the mail free of charge may not be with EK and Panarin, but it will be with someone. we have a #1 C in zibanejad, have what i guess should be a very good group of young winders in chytil, buch, kakko and kravtsov, and a supporting cast for them in andersson and howden, lemieux.

skjei, deangelo, fox, hajek, lindgren, reunanen is a solid foundation to start with on D, and they will only improve with more age, 2 years is just the starting point.

thats not counting any free agent signings, or the 20th overall pick this year, our 2020 pick in a very deep draft or any assets we get through trades of kreider, shattenkir, pionk, georgiev.

in fact, just like every other poster on this board, none of us are the GM's of the team, but i'd sure as hell make a better one than you

you bring up some fair points. not sure how much truth there is to the EK reports, but if he's really dead set on NY, TB or OTT, then we could just get him to agree to a nice deal. i don't see a way tampa can have the cap, i dont think melnyk will have karlsson back, so if hes dead set on those 3, it looks like we may be the only option. you're right he isnt the karlsson of old, but if he'd go 5 years at 10.5 (hopeful i know), i wouldn't mind him.

as for panarin, anyone who says that he is a second fiddle is probably thinking about his chicago eyars, because kane is superior. but, he was the catalyst in columbus, which proves he can do it. 7 x 11 for him would be great, 7 x 11.5 would be as high as id go.

i will back off the proposal i had of getting them both though, i agree it is outlandish, but i've propsoed none, one or the other, so i had to atleast consider both.

as for which one i'd want, I can honestly say I think Karlsson is the way to go. We're going to have to pay kravtsov and kakko eventually, and panarin would still be on the books then. don't know of any team thats succeeded in paying more than 2 forwards that much money.

just never said that, but when players of that calibre are available for money and nothing else, it seems like a good idea to get them when they're interested so you won't have to overpay!
