What does Bedard have to do to make Team Canada?

He only has 3 more points than Teravainen while playing 5 more mins a night. TT has 33 points in his last 30 games.

Linemate excuse doesn't hold water.
Bedard doesn’t even have line mates. He is in a perpetual blender.

Hasn’t played with tuevo as his regular line mate in a quite a long time from what I remember. I may have missed about 2 games in the last couple months, it’s tough to watch sometimes.

He is not playing well since the break, but it’s not surprising. He has been a slow starter even in juniors. He was playing at a PPG pace for thirty something games before that.

Hopefully he has a strong finish to the year so I don’t have to read a bunch of stat watchers takes all summer.

The same excuses all apply to Teravainen, yet he's got 33 points in 30 game since Dec 15th.

He got off to a red hot start this year, and a pretty hot start last year as well. The slow starter excuse also doesn't hold water.

Bedard has nearly the same thing going until the break.

What’s your point anyway? That a veteran player is producing about the same as a 19 year old?

I’m not even sure what I’m “excusing”.

Who said it was impossible?

It’s definitely hard for a 19 year old with no consistency and no real nhl level coach.

if its hard then why dont you send him down to the AHL so he can develop and brung him back up when hes ready?

...the reason is they want to award him with the 15 mil /year salary asap

Who said it was impossible?
People are blaming Bedard's poor production on the fact that he plays for such a garbage team and has no help.

If that were such a big factor, why hasn't it impacted back Teravainen, who is playing his best hockey in years. He's 13th in the league in scoring since Dec 15th. Or Donato, who is having a career year?

People should stop making excuses for him and just be patient. Accept that he's just not on the level he was hyped to be and let him become the player he is capable of.

He has been underachieving for 5 games. Let’s completely ignore the 30 before that.

At least you’re good for laughing at.

I don’t disagree with you entirely, but acting like isn’t impacted by his situation and age is as dumb as the phantom people you are arguing with.

Mark Messier called him out a while ago, is he also someone you enjoy laughing at?

Biz went on National TV and said he and the Hawks were playing pond hockey...

Of course playing with better players would help him - I said as much in my earlier post.

Phantom people? Have you read the last page of replies? People have been making excuses for his lack of production all season.

Yeah, he is one of the biggest tools on tv, consistently. Heck of hockey player for the vast majority of his career, but a legendary tool as well.

You’re contradicting yourself now. Are they excuses or do they impact his production?

Ok so you're in denial...

Got it

What am I in denial about?

He has been playing poorly for 5 games.

He was above PPG for a 30 or 31 game stretch before that and playing well.

Obviously he has some work to do. What is it you take issue with?

Not at all. His linemates aren't what's keeping him from producing like a generational player. But give him Nathan Mackinnon and he's probably good for 90+ points.

Well here you must be arguing with posts I can’t find again, ones saying “Bedard would have generational production with better linemates at this point of his career.”

I’m sure you can find someone who posted that some where but it won’t be me.

I never said you did. You came and quoted me.

Bedard has a bright future, but his lack of production has more to do with him than it does his teammates.

I’m not sure I agree with that statement because it’s not quantifiable enough to really mean much at all. I’m not sure one can dissect and say it’s one more than the other.

To me it’s both him (his age, experience, strength, skill development) and his situation (teammates, coaches) that are keeping him from producing at a higher level than he is. Thankfully all of those things will likely change within the coming years.

older? if he was 6 months younger, he would be a *lock* for the wjhc team

jokes aside, he should be a good player for canada in 2030. don't think he's making the 2026 squad

Problem is that he's a center that is bad at everything a center should be good at. Not totally his fault though, management should move him to the wing.

He's not making team Canada as a center in years to come.
