They blew it twice with Mcilrath and Lias, Kakko is fine.

I'm not sure they blew it with Anderson, I think they drafted a good player who fell apart afterwards, hindsight is easy but everyone was saying he was the most nhl ready player in the draft, he fit a position of need for us but who would have known he was gonna implode?

But even after he was drafted, before he imploded, he didn't look anywhere close to NHL ready and we were told he was NHL ready. I don't think anybody was expecting 60 points out of him but shit, it would be nice if he was even with the team.

If Montreal and Chicago can each win 1 of their next 2 games, our worst case spot is 11 overall. Hoping one other underdog can pull get us to 10 overall.

The thing is that as much flak as Gorton gets for that pick nobody says how smart the Chytil pick was.

Chytil was a great pick but honestly, it's their job to pick good players with their picks. Hopefully he makes more good picks in the future

All proposals that include a defenseman coming here that would need expansion draft protection means someone would be going out. You protect three. Right now that's Trouba (NTC), DeAngelo and Lindgren. Acquire someone like Brodin and that probably means DeAngelo is getting traded.

The reason Holden got a two year contract is so he can be exposed in the expansion draft next year. He wasn't as bad as some think and he can provide third pair minutes.

Vegas is exempt from the expansion draft, so them re-signing Holden made no sense then or now. On a good team he should be your 7th D-man, nothing more.

What I really like about Cirelli besides his skating, defensive game and budding offensive game... he could be signed for 5-6 years at a modest price. He's the exact type of player we need at Center.

Guessing TB would want Lundkvist

He now has value as a trade chip. He’s also a better player than you give him credit for.

I always enjoy reading your posts & value your opinion, but on this one we can agree to disagree.

I think he's a great teammate & a guy who can fill in as a stopgap, but depending on him for 12-15 solid minutes a night is a dicey proposition.

It is time for some late night posting...........

Barkov
for Chytil + Deangelo + 2021 1st + 2022 2nd (if the Rangers make the Stanley cup final in 2021 or 2022 it becomes a 1st)
Brodin for Strome + Robertson/Jones (Dallas could use a Center and will want to get value out of a D in a trade rather than pay the price of protecting 4D in the expansion)
Dillon Dube for Howden + Georgiev

Buyout Staal (3.57 cap hit next year and 1.07 year after)
Lundqvist retires

Fast 3 years at 2.4 per year
Lemieux 2 years at 1.8 per year

Panarin Barkov Kakko
Kreider Zib Buch
Gauthier Dube Kravstov
Lemieux Barron Fast
41 + .75 for 13th forward = 41.1

Lindgren Fox
Brodin Trouba
Miller Smith (Lundkvist next year)
19.295 + .85 for 7th D = 20.145

Igor
Huska/Wall
1.85

Girardi, Spooner, Shattenkirk, Staal
11.065 (goes to 3.61 the next year, and 2.54 year after that and done)

Total = 74.06 for next year
Room in 2021-22: 17.75+ (at least 6 based on this + 7.4 from buyout decrease + 4.35 for Smith)
Additional 1.07 = 18.82 in 2022-23 (Zib, Lindgren, Buch, Gauthier, Barkov, Dube, Igor contracts expire)

Zib & Barkov at 9 per year each (3.65 + 3.1 = 6.75 increases)
Brodin at 6.5 per year (2.33 increase)
Buch at 5 per year (1.75 increase)
Igor at 5 per year (4.025 increase) (was shooting for a 4ish year deal)
Lindgren at 3 per year (2.075 increase)
Dube at 1.8 per year (1 increase)
Gauthier at 1.8 per year (.95 increase)
Lundkvist at .925 per year
Trade Fast and replace with prospect or guy that cost 1 per year
Total = 18.605 cap cost increase

Whatever Tampa wants. That dude would solve so many of our problems, and the Rangers are apparently inept at developing their own forwards of a similar caliber.

You say “continue to build from within”...when did we even start?

Building from within is nice, but this fanbase has shown over the last 24 months that it does not have the patience for a rebuild, and neither does the front office. We're taking shortcuts already, and will come up short for another decade leading to endless conversations how we never get a good rebuild and how we need to follow the blueprint of "insert 2020s most dominant team".

I am all for adding pieces to fill the holes after a proper rebuild but this organization decided to go all in 14 months after sending out the letter. 14 months. That's it. Now results are expected and prospects are rushed. What a wonderful job. Truly stellar. I can't wait to be knocked out in the ECF 3 times in a decade again because we are missing game-breaking talent yet again.

Locking up Kreider long-term, going "all-in" by trading a 1st + a player for Trouba. This team isn't 1 player away from contending. This team is 2 players away from being even a play off team.

They definitely blew it with Lias. For some reason, this team just can't draft a good player with a top 10 pick when they do have them. We haven't drafted high a lot of times in the past 10 years but when we do, we blew it twice. Need to hit on them.

It's about development as much as it is about drafting the right player. Why are they rushing these prospects? Miller signing his ELC after 2 years, Lias signing it immediately and not even getting a full season in the SHL, Kravtsov after 1 year. Well, I refer to my rant above. No patience.
