Chytil is 6’2 206 and he’s 20 years old he’s only going to get bigger and stronger. I think people forget how young this kid is playing prominent top 9 mins the last year and a half and what he’s capable of becoming.

he put up 23 pts in 75 games as a 19 year old
he just put up 23 points in 60 games as a 20 year old

he’s virtually already a 30 pt player. You’re going to get at worst a third line 40 45 pt built like a horse center that can skate in a year or two out of this kid. We don’t know what he looks like at 24. That’s 4 years from now.

RNH is like 6 foot buck 85 at best.

Frankly I don’t sign Strome for anything more than a year and then I trade him at the deadline no matter what we’re doing

but I cut the crap giving him top pp mins. Those need to go to Kakko next year.

and I start him with Panarin but I’d be quick to get Chytil mins there as well

We all certainly hope that Chytil turns out exactly as you say. But he has shown exactly zilch that would have me believe he is ready to center Panarin so far.

And can Kakko actually earn the spot by his play in camp as opposed to having it simply handed to him?

I'm not sure they blew it with Anderson, I think they drafted a good player who fell apart afterwards, hindsight is easy but everyone was saying he was the most nhl ready player in the draft, he fit a position of need for us but who would have known he was gonna implode?
they blew it because the reasons they drafted him were his worst attributes and nobody in the scouting world had him that high.

My team next year

Kreider Mika Buchnevich
Panarin Strome Kakko
Lemieux Chytil Kravtsov
Barron/Gettinger Howden Gauthier
McKegg

Lindgren Fox
Miller/Smith Trouba
Staal DeAngelo
Hajek

Shesterkin
Georgie

yes I have Potentially 3 rookies on the team and no I don’t think it’s as big a deal as we make it out to be. Zero reason to run DiGiuseppe back out here as if he’s an nhler. No reason for Fogarty to be on this team and frankly there’s no reason to bring back Fast if you believe in the RWs you drafted and or traded for. Young guys have to develop and I am not looking at this Carolina series as anything more than it was. A weird 3 games in 4 day series we fell behind mins into the first two games and never got a chance to get going. I’m much more interested in how we came along during the season.

Kakko literally was the best player at this camp

and like I said Chytil’s year over year improvement speaks for itself. The points per game and plus/minus along with all his analytics say it not me. If you don’t see that for a 19/20 year old center I don’t know what to tell you. His bottom is a 40 45 point guy and wouldn’t be surprised if that’s next season at the tender age of 21

Building from within is nice, but this fanbase has shown over the last 24 months that it does not have the patience for a rebuild, and neither does the front office. We're taking shortcuts already, and will come up short for another decade leading to endless conversations how we never get a good rebuild and how we need to follow the blueprint of "insert 2020s most dominant team".

I am all for adding pieces to fill the holes after a proper rebuild but this organization decided to go all in 14 months after sending out the letter. 14 months. That's it. Now results are expected and prospects are rushed. What a wonderful job. Truly stellar. I can't wait to be knocked out in the ECF 3 times in a decade again because we are missing game-breaking talent yet again.

Locking up Kreider long-term, going "all-in" by trading a 1st + a player for Trouba. This team isn't 1 player away from contending. This team is 2 players away from being even a play off team.

It's about development as much as it is about drafting the right player. Why are they rushing these prospects? Miller signing his ELC after 2 years, Lias signing it immediately and not even getting a full season in the SHL, Kravtsov after 1 year. Well, I refer to my rant above. No patience.

How did they decide to go all in? They locked up an important veteran forward in Kreider for a reasonable deal and made one big trade in Trouba, who is only 25. They traded an extra first for him (not their first) and locked him up for 8 years. You can't have a right side comprised of all undersized D men. Who else did they have in the organization on the right side? And you talk about how the organization rushes prospects, you think these kids signed deals with a gun to their head? They want to turn pro. The pipeline is stocked and they're only going to be adding to it at the draft. Lias was a dud, it happens. Should they not have signed Panarin or traded 2 seconds for Fox?

Going back and browsing the draft thread when he was picked provides quite the chuckle

Most of the stuff people were saying then, are the same stuff people are saying now lol

When you know you know I guess

People have a hard-on for Strome the leech evidently

I agree with you

Just had the thought this morning - with Chytil's size and skill combo would it be better for him to become a Holik type player? can he develop that skillset at this point? He doesn't seem to have the built-in attitude Holik carried, but he also might not be a great fit centering one of the Rangers top two lines as currently constituted. If he became an elite 3rd line center who could harass top lines and shut them down, that would be priceless.

Holik at his best was a very unique player. Because of the disfunction within the organization and like of depth in the roster when he was here, he was horribly misused as a Ranger.

That said, Holik and an intelligence and intelligence that made him the kind of player someone can just become. I also think the game has changed from when Holik was at him most effective. And I'm not sure Holik would be as effective in today's game as he was when he played.

As a Ranger Holik was not very useful because he was mismanaged and expected to be something he wasn't. As A Devil though, I hated watching that guy go to work. Maybe ROR is the most similar player today?

Chytil and Kakko playing together this season for a bit was a good thing. Hopefully, Panarin ends up on the left side in the not too distant future. I think Chytil is going to be better than a lot of people think.

Thing is Chytil can really skate. I mean him and holik in that regard it’s not even close.

it’ll be interesting to see where he ends up. He’s got all the potential to be a 2C if he can develop some patience in his play making ability. He’s got a very good shot so I think he scores. I think he’s at least a 20 goal scorer. Maybe more. Even if he plays on the third line regularly. I just don’t know if he’s got 40 assist upside yet that would make him that beast of a 60 pt big strong Fast center. Maybe with panarin and Kakko by default. But that’s where we need to see his game continue to develop. He shows glimpses of it so it’s there just don’t know if he can do it regularly.

Unfortunate because I really like Rykov but that injury completely derailed his season and with covid it just doesn’t seem like it makes sense for him to come back here. Fell to far behind other prospects on the depth chart. I don’t think we see him as part of the plan now

Chytil struggles severely with defensive assignments; so suddenly modeling his game after Holik would be a complete 180 for him. I think if he's going to redefine himself it'll probably be as an offensive-minded winger as opposed to an offensive-minded center. Certainly wouldn't be the end of the world if he ended up on the wing but the Rangers seem to be crashing down hard from that "center depth high" they had in the days after the 2017 draft.
