You will need good leadership in the room with him. I love Pernell's game, but he... let's just say.... he comes with some baggage...

I wouldn't trade for him despite liking the player. You're better off signing EK65 that trading for PK76.
It depends on what the package is. a EK65 contract + injuries could bone us for a whole class of Rangers (i.e. up to when we lose our youngest players to UFA). A EK65 contract can totally bone us financially for any post-first-contract extensions. An EK65 contract with a NTC/NMC could totally bone us in the Seattle expansion. That said, I don't know if Subban comes with any such protection.

But imagine if you can trade Subban for Pionk and Vesey (lol, the irony) or Names or even say Andersson (debatable but we are talking about Subban). Then your statement is looking a lot more one-sided. I think the Ranger's business image (suits required at games, professionalism, professional facilities, treatment of players) mixed with Quinn's coaching could bring focus to PK's game. He'd thrive in NYC. Providing he can carry that professional image through. I don't know if he's gonna show up and just party but I have faith in Quinn. But since this is just a rumor, I'm guessing it's idle chatter so typical "for fun" convo on HF.

I get where you're going with this - but, for the sake of clarity, aren't you (or anyone else) doing the exact same thing by proposing Henrik pack up his stuff and go to Western Canada as if you knew it's something he would waive his NMC to do? I don't think you know him personally, either. This isn't an attack, it's an opposing viewpoint.

Do I see Henrik waiving his NMC to go to Calgary? No. Why? Is Calgary "on the cusp" of winning a Cup? They didn't do much to prove that this year. Are they a backup goalie away from winning it all or is Henrik supposed to be the primary guy there? Can he still be? Is that the place he'll forsake the Rangers for in order to pursue a Cup dream? I don't think it is.

If EK signs in SJ then that's a place I could see him going to. Vegas. TB (how funny would that be?). Why? EK/contender. Contender. Hedman/Contender.

I think my point may have been a little confusing. I wasn't making a statement that he would go to Calgary or anywhere else for that matter. Just that it's plausible there's many options including NY. I was using that as a microcosm of what seems to happen frequently with the tone of responses depending upon the originator. I wasn't pointing out anyone directly on either side also. So, not a direct attack on anyone specifically. It's an observation I've seen over the years on the board and it's caused some quality posters to remove themselves. Forget the main board that's a melee... survivor island.

anyone know the exact rule/wording on 8 year contracts? I know that you can sign your own players for 8 years vs 7 for other teams. but I vaguely remember that there is more too it and you can't simply acquire the player on June 30th and give him 8 years and I can't find anything on it. so not sure if I just made that up lol

No issues with PK off the ice. No problem there. He does a lot of good off the ice.

I can just see his game starting to dip and not being worth cap hit. I would consider PK if he was considered a missing piece to the puzzle AND we failed on other options first such as Trouba or someone else.

This place never seems to change. People love to jump on others for their opinions. It's a forum where people are allowed to voice their ideas, hopes and wishes for a team with which everyone shares a common interest. Yet we chastise people for their perspectives. The mob mentality here is saddening. Even by some reputable and information providing posters. So many posters here have been driven off over the years.

Everyone assumed Henrik would never want to leave New York. Then the article comes out and he's open to conversations with management on their future plans. Maybe he elects for a change, maybe he doesn't. But the certainty that people speak with about him not wanting to live in a place like Alberta is surprising. I don't think anyone here has a personal relationship with him. Yet everyone knows he wouldn't move to Calgary. He isn't getting any younger. With only two more years under contract how many ready made opportunities to compete will there be for him? Most teams with a chance to contend aren't a goalie away. If his goal is to win a cup then why not consider the opportunity, His children are still very young and could make the move for ~1.5 years if he were moved at the TDL without much disruption. Alberta is beautiful. People change their mindset and enjoy different opportunities in their lives. I just left Manhattan for a horse farm in Ontario. My family and friends would've laughed in your face if you told them I'd be living on a farm one day.

I'm addicted to the Rangers and enjoy reading these boards. Just wish people would criticize other opinions less. We're all on the same team.

Hayes is averaging nearly a point per game more than Nelson who got 6 years and $36M. The Hayes camp asked for 7 years and $49M from the Rangers before the deadline. Some crazy number like that. Maybe they wanted Gorton to counter. Hayes will get more than Nelson. ~ $6.5M for 6-7 years. The Flyers were obviously worried about not getting Hayes so they traded for his rights nearly three weeks before free agent talking period begins on the 23rd.

Hope the Flyers give Hayes $39M-$45.5M over the next 6-7 years. It will be priceless to read about Hayes and his contract over the term of the contract.

Am I the only one who doesn't think Day is a garbage prospect?

I mean, he's obviously no stud. But he still has some potential to become an NHL player and from what other posters who follow HFD have said on here, he showed improvement after his rocky start last year.

One never knows with guys like this.

It could be that one day he puts it all together and becomes a good player.

More than likely hes got a journeyman type of career ahead of him playing overseas.

I think the larger ice surface would benefit him to allow him more time to make decisions and give him room to skate out of trouble
