cant tell if this is a joke or not lol if it isnt....zibanejad is 25. if we get a top pick in 2020, that player will be in the NHL by 2021-2022 at the latest. zibanejad will only he 28. another 2 years and that player, along with kravtsov and kaapo will be contributing nicely and into their NHL careers. this is good
He has only three years left before he is UFA. He is gone after that. He will be 29 years old then. Older than Panarin is now. Even a month older than Karlsson is now. Do you think Rangers will resign him?
Trade a 3rd for Marleau and Kapanen, buy out Marleau so he can sign with Toronto for 1m. They save 5.2m in cap space, while only giving up Kapanen.
Our very own Teravainen deal.
Let's start with the obvious: Surely you'll continue to get offers for the No. 2 pick at the Draft. Are you going to keep it?
I think it's fair to say we are going to take that pick. It's our job, my job in particular, to listen to anything anybody will say when the phone rings on any of those things. But we're in a pretty good spot. We know we're going to get a pretty good player. So like I said, the opportunity to pick this high at the highest the Rangers have ever picked, that's where we want to be.
Henrik Lundqvist earlier this month told Expressen, a newspaper in Sweden, that he would like to finish his career with the Rangers "but if the club has other ideas, I know I'll have to listen." What is your take on Lundqvist's future?
Hank has two more years and we're prepared that he's going to be a Ranger. We'll move forward like that. I think that if you look over the season, the first part of the year was great, second part not as good, he made the All-Star team. … So we know that Hank's still a good goalie. Obviously what we're doing, we're going to need goaltending. We're acting like Hank's back and wants to be back.
Good idea, and a trade I’d make, but Kapanen ain’t Teuvo man. Teuvo is a f***ing beast, a wizard with the puck. I think Kap is more of a Hagelin plus.Trade a 3rd for Marleau and Kapanen, buy out Marleau so he can sign with Toronto for 1m. They save 5.2m in cap space, while only giving up Kapanen.

I think he'll unlock at 27 or 28. He's not really a physical attribute guy so those declining after 25 isn't gonna hurt him as much as experience is gonna help him.Anyone else out there feel this could be Buchs breakout year? So many guys on this team that this could happen to. It’s very interesting, tons of uncracked talent that’s clearly always been there.

If they're not bringing him back or trading him, it means that either someone overtook him on the depth chart (which would be great), the rebuild isn't going the way we'd hope it would be (which is bad) or last year was a fluke and he isn't all that good (which is worse than #2.)
It's also possible that last year was a peak year but he settles into being a very good player. Those guys have value too and won't burn a hole in your pocket.
......or he'll want a 7 or 8 year contract. And would you give that to a 29 year old player? I very likely wouldn't. So however sad this might be for some I think it's best to get use to the idea that this might be Mika's last contract with us and that he might even get moved in his rental year.
For those who think he's special---Henrik was special for a very long time too....and look at him now. Most of us are ready to turn the page on him. Age catches up with everyone and it catches up a lot faster in professional sports.
Will he?
We don't know that for sure (he may, but he may not.) Guys have been convinced to stick around for a shorter term in situations they're comfortable with, especially if the team is on the up and up and ready to win.
He may not be here beyond the 3 years he has left, but thats a looonnnnggg ways away. It's really silly to worry about it now and acting like it's a sure thing that hes gone (you didn't, but the guy I quoted did) in 3 years is getting wayyyy ahead of ourselves. So much can happen between now and then.
You’re letting him get away with that!congratulations, you genuinely made me laugh. nice to see some lightheartedness on here![]()

Patient aggressiveness is how Davidson and Gorton have described the summer game plan, the acceleration of the rebuild.
“There’s a number of ways it could go at any time. There are some key issues that could come up as far as free agency, the draft, all these things. Deals come up. So just be ready for anything, understand that we have a plan in place and — JD mentioned it too — we want to stick to our plan.
We want to be as aggressive as we can at the right time. Figuring out when that is, that’s the trick.
“It’s jumping on things at the right time. It’s being patient. Seeing what opportunities arise. So we’ll do that.”“We’re going to look to do that,” Gorton said.Gorton points to the Fox trade as patient aggressiveness. The Rangers could have waited until Fox became a free agent next August.
“We’ll try to be as speedy with this as possible, but honestly, we’re going to do this the right way and make good decisions as we go.”
he's a muffin who had 2 goals last year.A name I haven’t heard brought up on these boards yet is Alex Wennberg.what do you guys think of him? His value is low right now and I feel rangers could get him cheap. He’s still young and worth the gamble I think. I would consider swapping pionk for him straight up.
