Regarding Domi/Kakko, I haven’t seen the information, but are both types of diabetes high risk factors for covid or is it more type 2 diabetics, linked to obesity and other aspects of poor health and diet?

I’m not making any kind of judgement or meaning to be inflammatory in any sense, I simply wonder/don’t know if the covid/diabetes escalator is the same for a 20 something in professional athletic shape who has their insulin extremely carefully managed and has been living this way for their entire life, versus someone who developed diabetes through diet and lifestyle. Forgive any ignorance on my part as well.

Both type 1 and type 2 diabetics are higher risk.

The games Lemeiux gets suspended for should be to start the regular season next year,. if the season condtinued he would of been suspended during the regular season. Not fair that it will be in the playoffs when he is needed. Honestly didn't even look that bad of a hit, late yes but his arms and elbows were actually down

This is...probably true considering playoff suspensions are usually shorter than regular season ones for the same infraction.

I looked into it myself after the question came to mind.
What Should Someone with T1D Know about Having a Viral Illness?

  • Having T1D does NOT make you more susceptible to contracting COVID-19.
    • Current evidence suggests that individuals with well-managed T1D are NOT at higher risk of contracting COVID-19.
    • Experts further say that if someone with well-managed T1D does contract COVID-19, they are not necessarily at higher risk of developing serious complications from the disease.
    • Those at greatest risk are people with consistently elevated blood sugar levels and those with a second chronic disease (such as heart disease or lung disease).
    • For a detailed explanation, please read this blog or view this video from leading national endocrinologist, Dr. Anne L. Peters.
    • If you have T1D and do become ill, with any virus, you must take special care of you and your T1D (see below).

I did some Celiacs disease research and Covid- all patients with Covid and Celiacs are encouraged to upload their medical data to a central location that is compiling the data which has not published results yet as far as I can tell. Therefore, as of now there is no direct research on Celiacs and Covid, but I learned that in general, controlled Ciliacs disease is not considered an immunocompromised state which bodes well for that population if they contract the virus.

Hey guys we made the playoffs. Lol

Are we supposed to be playing Toronto? IDK if the format is seeding teams based on points, or points per game. If it's points per game we could end up playing Carolina.

We didn't make the playoffs, we made the cutoff for the games that determine who will make the playoffs (play-in).

Seeding is points per game. We play Carolina.

IMO the top 4 seeds should not change...if you want to reseed it should be based on the play-in round. if you want to say the bruins as the #1 seed get to face the lowest seed that advances. but 70 games of the regular season shouldn't be overridden by a round robin of practice scrimmages

I believe the problem with reseeding is the hubs and travel. If there are four hubs and they just do a bracket you can keep four separate groups in each location. If you reseed teams would have to fly from hub to hub after the first round bringing more teams into contact with each other. If they end up with two hubs then this is not an issue as the East would be in one and West in another.

Has it been talked about, with regards to whats happening with the Salary Cap next year?

next years cap is based on this year's revenue so that is all dependent on whether or not they resume play this season.

The bye teams have to be in the same hub to play each other

So with this format we could end up with 1 lottery pick or none. Best case scenario I suppose is we beat Carolina and Toronto loses to CBJ. Both teams win the lottery, Toronto’s pick is top 3 protected so they keep it and we get Carolina’s pick. Win Win!
What am I missing?

Serious question here

Would the no fans benefit a team like the Rangers alsince they're a young team?? Or an older team have more of an advantage to this whenever this happens????

I don't know about teams, but it would for sure benefit older players, specifically ones about to go to UFA and want to get a taste of what it would be like to potentially play home games as a Devil.

Yeah, my girlfriend is Celiac and she is not immunocompromised.

However, if she ingests enough gluten to mess with her body (trace amounts are more than enough), then until she recovers she is immunocompromised.

As long as Kakko doesn't accidentally ingest gluten, then he is in no more danger than any other healthy kid his age.

Celiac's is a non issue as HD just said.

Kakko is no more/less likely to get infected than anyone else on the Rangers. The issue is that due to his T1D, hes more likely to develop adverse symptoms if infected (and symptomatic) than someone who is completely healthy.

In general, as much as I want to watch hockey again, the NHL has to be really, really careful here. The last thing they want is to start things up again, have someone get infected and then close down shop once again.
