So don’t make them play. Simple.

I'm wondering how the 'don't make them' would work and I'm kind of thinking that they shouldn't. I'm also kind of thinking there may be more NHL players with asthma (Dan Girardi was an asthmatic as it turns out) which is pretty common. A long time ago Jed Ortmeyer to continue his NHL career signed waivers that the Rangers and/or the NHL couldn't be held responsible for his dying if such should happen after he survived simultaneous blood clots in both lungs. I'm not sure the Rangers would want to play games with Kakko.

Don’t make them play works very easy
You play someone else.

forget don't make them play, those players shouldn't be allowed to play. you know hockey players and all of them except maybe boyle since he's older and toward the end of the career will say they want to play regardless of the risk....it sucks that kakko won't get the playoff experience but the season should be cancelled anyway so he wouldn't have gotten it then.

its unfortunate and the good teams will be pissed if they have to play without certain players (especially if they just traded for them)....but player safety has to come first. every other hockey league cancelled their season and i'm not sure I hear the other pro sports rushing to get back....if the nhl can put this together great, but it has to be done safely. if a player, coach, etc get sick or god forbid dies cause the nhl tried to do a money grab god lord the reactions.

Trouba did a nice job in the old Derek Stepan position as the shooter on the second unit. I thought this was a pretty smart use of available talent by the coaching staff. The problem was that with all of the big guns on the first unit, there weren’t a lot of forwards left to man the second unit.

Unless I missed something it is a bit of a strange comparison for me given handedness and 1-PP unit vs 2. Actually I wouldn’t be against having Trouba in the left circle and Fox running the blue line.

Panarin, Zibanejad, Strome, Kreider and ADA

Trouba, Fox, Buchnevich, Kakko, Chytil

And yes, Strome on 1PP. Since he joined it, not only there was no drop, the PP actually got better.

Regarding Domi/Kakko, I haven’t seen the information, but are both types of diabetes high risk factors for covid or is it more type 2 diabetics, linked to obesity and other aspects of poor health and diet?

I’m not making any kind of judgement or meaning to be inflammatory in any sense, I simply wonder/don’t know if the covid/diabetes escalator is the same for a 20 something in professional athletic shape who has their insulin extremely carefully managed and has been living this way for their entire life, versus someone who developed diabetes through diet and lifestyle. Forgive any ignorance on my part as well.

These would be my PP lines until someone else stepped up in a big way (Gauthier/Kravstov?) or we added a vet who could positively impact the second unit, in which case one of Kakko/Chytil would not get PP minutes until they took a step forward themselves. I’d run Trouba in the left dot and Fox on the right side as well. Trouba opened up for one timers due to handedness makes more sense. Fox on his natural side can still be a slick playmaker.

It’s no use assuming that what you know about a young player like Kakko from the regular season applies to that player after a 3-4 month break. One of the most important periods of time for player development is the offseason as a period of time to reflect and internalize what they learned. That is essentially what they’ve just gotten.

There are no guarantees of course, but I wouldn’t be remotely surprised if we saw improvements from some of the young players.

For rookies it could go both ways as sophomore slump is a thing. This first offseason is also a part of the learning experience and must be spent the right way for the higher upward development trajectory.

Didn’t CK have a clot/compartment syndrome last year? If they haven’t found an underlying cause, I guess he’ll be good to go and play. I’m sure it’s something he and the training staff are aware off

Compartment syndrome, I believe, which from all I’ve seen in the competitive lifting world is actually more likely to be due to overtraining than an underlying condition. And we all know Kreider is a gym rat.

It was due to an issue with his rib, wasn't it? And they corrected it?

Yes, you’re right. Thoracic outlet syndrome. Compression of nerves, veins or arteries near the armpit. In Kreider’s case it was due to being born with a malformed rib. Hayes had gone through compartment syndrome in his leg at some point. A few other NHLers as well, more recently. I got it mixed up.

Thanks for the clarification. I never followed up in depth as to the cause, good to know it’s not relating to any syndrome or clotting issue.

Wall's no dummy. This isn't the mid-80s NHL. Goalie depth today is not goalie depth even as recently as when the Sharks had Shields/Nabakov/Kiprusoff.

If he surpasses Huska and is the main guy in Hartford and performs well, he's on track to make an NHL cameo as soon as end of next season. Georgiev will be traded it's just a matter of when and if the price is right. More likely after Seattle Expansion unless they can get a very good young forward like a LeBlanc from San Jose.

Depth can change in a season. Remember in 2010-11 how the Rangers D was going to be this unstoppable juggernaut for the next decade? Welp, Staal gets hurt and is not the same, Sauer has to retire, the wear and tear got to both Girardi/McD in various stages, they let Stralman go which was the wrong move, and Skjei became Skjeikspeare after his rookie year and stubbornly never tried to go back to basics.

That group had five great years together and seven functional years.

Same deal with goalie depth.

Also, yes if Reunnanen wants to come over for the reserve squad, bring him over please. Maybe he can play with Trouba, probably not but stranger things have happened.

i think he got 2 games
The games Lemeiux gets suspended for should be to start the regular season next year,. if the season condtinued he would of been suspended during the regular season. Not fair that it will be in the playoffs when he is needed. Honestly didn't even look that bad of a hit, late yes but his arms and elbows were actually down
