Yeah, no way we get him, nor would i want him.

Though, I kind of think a deal involving Sjkei + who knows what can land Willy Nyls, no?

I’m tellin’ ya, if Gorts figures out a way to add Willy & Panarin to all of these prospects + whatever the F we do at that draft in June... just.. wow

The worse he plays this year the more interested I would be in getting him! Known commodity, the lower price the better.

But I am far from as high on getting him now though as I would have been if Pionk and TDA played as well as they do. Will Adam Fox be a UFA? The way Keane is looking.

I am not so sure though on which road Gorton should take this summer. If we sell this season, are we getting a top 3 pick next year? Zucc and Hayes goes, maybe Gorts can unload Shatty/Smith.

To be honest, probably not. Some make it out like being bottom 1-2 team is something you choose. ‘Trade everyone’. But every year there is easily 10-15 teams who would be very very very well served getting the top pick, but it’s not that easy. If 5-10 teams are trying, it’s hard to get there at will. You never know, a season can go south but it’s not easy to force it.

Pionk + + for Nylander

I definitely would be pretty interested in Kreider and Pionk for Nylander. Would Toronto ask for Lias?

With Nyls RHS you can also trade Zibanejad. Someone would give up a lot to get Mika.

Gorton is a nice guy and a straight shooter. But if anything would be jackpot for us it’s to trade Hayes for a very good return and then lock him up long term in the summer.

IMO, the whole point would be to solidify Mika-Nylander as your top duo for the immediate future. That's a stud combo for your top line.

Those werent the adds I was thinking.

Adding Kreider is too much.

So are we thinking of trading Pionk just because his advanced stats don't look good- or because people like DeAngelo more?

I'd rather just trade Shatty and keep the young guys.

I just wonder...if the Rangers really want to trade Zuccarello, why is he still here? Dreger said there are buyers with good offers out there, Gorton can trade him any time.

My guess it's Quinn who wants to keep him. You can see how the coach keeps the rookies away from top 6, so who's going to fill those spots? Quinn also seems to love playing Zucc on the pk, and that's interesting.

Gorton is waiting until he feels like the offer he gets is the best one he’s going to get, like any responsible GM. “Good” offers don’t necessarily meet that standard. There’s no rush here.

For me it’s intriguing only from an asset management POV. You can play — at the most — two small PMDs on each side. We already have three already in the NHL. Adam Fox is rumored to want to come here. Keane is looking really good. Lundkvist can amount to something 3-4 years down the road.

If Pionk has good value around the league we have strong assets behind him on the depth chart. If it was the opposite, we only had Pionk but not TDA, Keane and Lundkvist — he would be untouchable for me.

On Shatty, I know most disagree with me and want to keep him because they think he has many more years left in him. But I am just very sceptical. I just don’t think he will be a big asset when it’s time for us to contend. I definitely think he should be traded to. But we are definitely in the minority on that one.

I don't think the logic holds that because we have prospects upcoming that might be good someday we should get rid of a 23 year old before we even get a good idea of what his upside is.

To me you only have a logjam once guys hit pro and are stuck in the AHL.

And yeah, Shattenkirk looks like he's aging poorly. With his skating he isn't going to have a Danny Boyle length career. Maybe we'll be made to look stupid like we were with Eric Staal, but I'd rather move him while he has good value.

And that is something I’ve said repeatedly as well.

I have genuine concerns that we’d be paying him for what he was and not what he is.

Yeah, me too. I’m for signing him, but I’ve said over and over that it depends on if he shows this season that he’s still a Norris caliber D. He hasn’t shown that thus far.

It seems to me that that injury really damaged his abilities.

My stance has always want to be that I need to see more before I am ready to sign him up.

For me, the jury is still out.

Fried just reported on headlines that Nylander is officially on the block. Wonder if we have the assets to pull a move off

The short answer for me is yes, we have the assets.

The part I am not sure about is whether they are a fit for where Toronto is going.

I think they want help now, not necessarily futures.
