If Shesh gets $11.5M AAV and the dumping of Trouba, Rangers will still have $2.5M extra cap space going into next season (pending any other trades).
BIG improvements coming with all that cap!!!

I don’t think it’s a good move to give Igor this deal. Not gonna be dramatic about it. I just think it’s a mistake.
He's gonna move fast, I think. I think a rebuild is out of the question. It's going to be another retool on the fly now, with prime years Igor committed.
We are so used to these obvious "mistakes" that they cannot be called mistakes anymore. It's simply the fact that this org has a completely different mindset and ambition than the fans do. The fans want to win the cup. The org wants to keep receiving their fat pay checks and to do that they must bring in revenue for the fat cat owner.
No they werent. Vasi signed his big deal after he won his first cup.I don't get how people can complain when Bob & Vasi were already being paid as much down in Florida for the past half-decade.
$11.5M for Shestyorkin is the unfortunate reality of New York pricing. Would I love him at Oettinger money? Yes but, this isn't Dallas and this isn't Winnipeg and this also isn't Florida.
They wanted a rebuild and not a retool. I'd prefer a rebuild but I get why they'd do it this way.In 2 years Panarin will be gone and the cap will be at 100mil. What are we crying about?
8 years when we get out from Lindgren and Ck as early as next year? And the only real anchor on the roster is Mika?
I don’t see an issue with that.
It’s not like we’re trying to bottom out completely.
This wasn’t ever gonna be a rebuild, but a restructuring.
You don't need to rebuild this roster. You need to retool on the fly. There are enough decent assets already in the system to balance it out with some good trades. They just need a high end Center and a defensemen or two. That doesn't necessitate a full rebuild.
This roster is like 2 pieces away from contending. Not 5-6.

Andrei Vasilevskiy signed his 8-year $76 million contract extension on July 29, 2019. What do you think that $9.5M would've been in NY?No they werent. Vasi signed his big deal after he won his first cup.
They also had alot of really good contracts, and have since had to jettison alot of good players
The next chance we have at acquiring a legitimate #1 center is if McDavid or Eichel reaches free agency at the ages of 29 and 30. This team is f***ed.… a 1C (might as well be 5 pieces by itself, given we’re never getting one). A 2D. A 3D. A top six wing. Not only is this team at least 3-4 pieces away, but they’re some of the hardest pieces to acquire and now we’re right back to having minimal cap space and minimal movable assets that have positive value. I don’t know how anyone sees a roadmap to success for this roster now, outside of pure blind, biased optimism.
I would assume the thought process was “a 11.5 million goalie can win us the cup even with a lacking roster”imagine looking at this team and thinking "hey we can win a stanley cup, let's resign a goalie for over 11 million"
Kakko has not gotten worse. the whole 4th line is better than what we had and Smith > Wheeler. They got to the ECF with Igor making under 6M and every single player on that he roster except for Cullye has gotten worse since. So paying Igor twice as much and fielding a worse roster is going to get better results?
The more I think about it the more I'd be okay moving Gabe for Tkachuk. Could end up a disaster but Brady would be the culture change Drury wants to implement so it might be well worth it.Now get Brady without giving up Laf or Gabe
Sorry his extension started after his first cup. So the first cup was still on a much lower salary.Andrei Vasilevskiy signed his 8-year $76 million contract extension on July 29, 2019. What do you think that $9.5M would've been in NY?

i think there have been indications Drury wants to build a string team. I think the Trouba summer ordeal f***ed up his plan.I think it’s about not moving on from the mindset of trying to build behind a goalie.
There’s been no indication that the GM is interested in making the moves necessary to build a team that is strong enough in front of him to win. I understand how strong his playoff track record is, but look at the volume of f***wads who still
Exist on this roster and likely will continue to exist.
We just experienced prime Igor yearsHe's gonna move fast, I think. I think a rebuild is out of the question. It's going to be another retool on the fly now, with prime years Igor committed.
It was a cup win that fell in their lap, my point is you can't expect a franchise goalie to not get paid his due in a place like New York.Sorry his extension started after his first cup. So the first cup was still on a much lower salary.
