This was a better outcome than Levitate's Trouba to Dallas for Colin Blackwell and Nils Lundkvist.

No G.M is going to want to trade with Drury after they seen what he did with Troubas contract lol

Drury deleting $11.6 million with no retention between Trouba and Goodrow

I will become a shooter for Drury. Say mean things about him and I’m showing up to your house with a Wile E. Coyote rocket

Yeah but we all know Drury will sign Igor to some insane contract. If Drury has the balls to trade Igor, THEN I'll duff my cap to him.

I really don't know where you're going with this. Jt Miller & Zuuc have absolutely zero to do with the Jacob Trouba trade. They were very different players, at very different points in their career and that of the Rangers as a construct. The JT Miller trade was absolutely awful and I felt that from the get go. The Zuuc trade, I didn't feel good about it, but I understood it and still do.

Jacob Trouba is an awful hockey player. We play the Devils 2 more times this year. We play the Ducks 1 more time this year. Inter-divisional hockey is almost non-existent at this point. Some years you get 1 more game than you do against West Coast teams. Jacob Trouba is horrendous and the only thing better than shipping him to Anaheim would be shipping him to a team I hate and getting something of value in return.
Im glad we moved Trouba. Im also glad it is very unlikely we will go against him in the playoffs where he could hurt one of our players like Chtil. Im really do not think what I'm saying is that complicated. Trouba may not be a good player at this point but he has hurt multiple players and Id prefer he not have multiple chances to hurt our players. I will leave it at that.

Next moves I would do

1. Rs-‘nucks
VAN has just over 6 in cap space. Understandably want to keep JTM; that said, while he is out, they are short. Also need D w/Hronek out. Rs need pivots and cap space. So here is the offer:
take prospect Sykora for the more available bottom 6 C Raty
take Robertson for injured expiring Forbort
take Jones for Juulsen
of these Forbort is highest paid 1.5, everybody else < 1 roughly cancels out
and we throw in Zib max retained reduced 8.5 to 4.25
ballpark cap dif is 3.75-ish hit to VAN

Further detail:
Raty [elc expiring -> rfa] > Sykora [3 yrs elc remaining] right now but ‘nucks can spare him.
LD Robertson has size etc but has not been properly developed; they kept not giving him a chance, yet resigned him this season, what does that say? But Forbort is expiring, older so it is a possibly useful body for an unavailable one.
I always liked Juulsen and give him full props for coming back after his early injury history. Jones is young, not big at 6'0 but fast, fluid skater and can play either side.

All in all a small +.
So why accommodate on Zib? Risk-reward. You are gambling that there appears to be no physical damage, the issue is he suddenly snakebit in an ongoing funk. Howev, if he was playing with his fellow Swede pal and not under the same pressure to not produce as 1C [that’s JTM when he returns], he will perform sufficiently in top 6. And again, we think there is no issue w/JTM but this is a useful stopgap while JT is out, possibly insurance if there is something we are unaware of. And worst case here for ‘nucks, they have to attach 1.5ish or so to move him to a cap floor club.

For Rs, we are looking at 4.5 structural cap recovery. Juulsen ok bottom pair. Raty fine to build with at position of need. Forbort, if he returns, is 3LD, depth after selling Lindgren

2. Rs - Sens
LaF + Fox + Othmann + Gabe + Vesey + 2028 1st
for
Sanderson +Batheson + Pinto + Kleven + Grieg + Tkachuk

Tkac can easily turn into a big $$ nmc and I'm inclined to drop him anyway
but we are losing Fox getting a nmc so, perhaps not

these 2 deals more or less solve our probs
bundle Bath + Grieg + KAM for Byfield

Lindy to highest bidder

panarin, before end of next yr

To be totally honestly, I think you come from fandom in a different era when this was some kind of extreme risk. I'm not worried about players getting hurt by other players, especially Trouba. It's rarely a thing anymore and those old school players that do exist in a hard hitting format we still will play against from time to time. Sending one of them to the West versus the Devils won't make a different. I am worried about Filip Chytil, but that is completely separate story.

I'm not incredibly down on him, but what's the extension going to look like? This is his post-bridge deal. I imagine he'll be looking at 6+ and just have no interest in committing that to him.

I don't think that's really a lot in the grand scheme of things considering where the cap is going. If the Rangers are resetting their internal cap, I think it would be a good move to get him locked in around that number. He's someone who I think would thrive from the assurance of long-term stability and trust. Plus, his market is kind of capped after guys like Faber, Power, and Sanderson signed their extensions. They're all better, and Key doesn't deserve to get that much.

Moser has/had real value and was the main asset in the Sergachev trade.
I know. I wasn't looking to get him for peanuts. LD was a glaring weakness going into the year, and it clearly hadn't been addressed by just keeping the same group together and letting Jones replace Gustafsson.

So the trade was made for Igor with this free cap space is going to Igor right?
I don't think it has anything to do with Igor directly. Trouba was gone one way or another by the summer. Getting it done now takes the pressure off.
JT Miller is probably a Ranger by the deadline with all this cap space
I just don't see it happening. Not unless one of Mika or Trocheck is going the other way.
