This right here... I applaud Drury for getting a little bit back and Tuba's money off the books but I think people were selling themselves short here. Drury made a quick move to get him off the roster and off the books. There were other suitors. Teams were interested when they had the cap space. There are organizations that need RHD that'll have tons of space in the summer. How was Detroit going to clear 6 million dollars? I get why people love the deal, he did fine... but based on what we've heard it sounds like he could've recouped a bit more if he pushed it off until the deadline or the summer. A bigger bidding pool like what was reported prior, bigger return. I think he sucks, mostly everyone here thinks he sucks... but the GMs dont. But it is what it is. The team is better off and the cap space is needed.
I agree with you, but we are fans - we're more than happy to wait until the deadline or the summer to get better assets. Drury has to worry about potentially being shitcanned. He took the offer that got the albatross off the team as quickly as possible so he can try and right the ship as quickly as possible.

I'm not as down on Miller, even with this season, as most are. I think his mistakes are abject failures on the coaching staff, and I've been very vocal about how bad this group has gotten under Housley. Key is a great example of that.
I'm not incredibly down on him, but what's the extension going to look like? This is his post-bridge deal. I imagine he'll be looking at 6+ and just have no interest in committing that to him.

Vaakanainen was someone I said that Drury should target this summer because he's exactly what this defense needed to be a simple, boring, effective LD. I'm going to be forever annoyed that TB got Moser in the Sergachev deal because that's who I really wanted to pair with Fox.
Moser has/had real value and was the main asset in the Sergachev trade.

It doesn't look like he and Kakko ever played together. Vaakanainen was always one development level up on Kakko.

We’re going to send Kakko to the airport to pick him up as a gesture of goodwill but they’re both going to get lost in JFK and go missing for the next 72 hours before being found at a Wetzels Pretzels kiosk 10 feet from the exit

If the goal is to bring in a top 6 center at some point, one of our current centers has to leave. I'd rather keep Chytil, and Mika will be difficult to move. Trocheck might end up being the odd man out.
If Mika stays around ( doesn't waive his NMC ) I can see him moving to RW.

I disagree on Tro. You keep him for now
Eh, he's on a NMC at this moment. Opens up to a 12 team NTC in the summer. So either way it'll have to be after the season. He's on pace for 40 points right now. I don't believe this team is nearly as bad as they're playing, Vinny included. But if that's what we're getting going forward I see no reason to retain him. This team isn't going anywhere if Trocheck is a 40-50 point guy

Drury to the veteran core:

Too injury prone. He already missed a few games this season.
He is, but when he is healthy, he is arguably our best center. If the worst-case scenario comes to pass, we can put him on LTIR and add a replacement. Plus, he only has 2 years left on his contract.

I'd rather have a sometimes healthy Chytil than an always healthy Mika at this point.
