Going into next season id like to move on from both lindgren and kandre. Sign marcus petersson and then need another LHD.

Bottom pair or Jones-Mancini with Ruhwedel as 7th D is solid

I don't think it has anything to do with Igor directly. Trouba was gone one way or another by the summer. Getting it done now takes the pressure off.

I just don't see it happening. Not unless one of Mika or Trocheck is going the other way.

I don’t think that had anything to do with it. Drury covets him and wants a leader who isn’t a quitter. Canucks inquired on Kreider per Vancouver radio

Cuylle
Kakko
Jones
Miller
Quick
Edstrom
Smith
Vesey
Rempe
Shesterkin
Ruhwedel
All these contracts expire at 24/25 season conclusion.

Even if you don’t sign the player, Drury will still need to fill the spot.

Trade Igor
Trade Miller
Trade Lindgren
Trade Smith
Trade Vesey if possible.
Let Ruhwedel walk.
Resign the rest.

Go hard for McDavid!!!

Curious if him and Carrick get along?

To be totally honestly, I think you come from fandom in a different era when this was some kind of extreme risk. I'm not worried about players getting hurt by other players, especially Trouba. It's rarely a thing anymore and those old school players that do exist in a hard hitting format we still will play against from time to time. Sending one of them to the West versus the Devils won't make a different. I am worried about Filip Chytil, but that is completely separate story.
Has Trouba hurt at least 1 guy every year we have been in the playoffs? Do you consider those different eras?
I just know it sucks to play against dangerous guys regardless of skill level at times. Chytil is a guy I worry about. I worry about him being on the ice vs Tom Wilson and I would worry about him on the ice in a playoff serirs vs Trouba. I'm glad we will not play Trouba in the playoffs so now I don't have to consider that.

Drury wriggling out of Trouba’s deal to gain cap flexibility and immediately turn around and take JT Miller @8 million for another 6 years would make me genuinely laugh out loud

If the goal is to bring in a top 6 center at some point, one of our current centers has to leave. I'd rather keep Chytil, and Mika will be difficult to move. Trocheck might end up being the odd man out.

15-team NTC.
Honestly, barring a major turnaround I'm not thrilled with a single one of our centers in terms of the future. Mika is in a bad place, but he has a NMC. I would put both Vinny and Chytil on the block. Trocheck is struggling. I don't trust Fil to stay healthy, despite the fact that I think he has some star qualities. He's fools gold at this point.

If Zegras is on the block I'd see what it'd take to get him out of Anaheim.

Marco Rossi in Minnesota has consistently been in trade rumors for a while now. And unlike a number of other players, there actually seems to be some smoke behind those rumors. They have 13 million dollars coming off the books this summer from the Suter and Parise buyouts. People kept mentioning Kreider to Dallas... I didn't really get that, Tuba would've been the one that made sense there. But I could see CK to the Wild in the summer. They're in 1st place right now, they could use some help up front. But they have no cap space at the moment.

I dont know that they have the sort of upside the above 2 have but I'm into the buy low candidates like Krebs in Buffalo or Hendrix Lapierre in Washington. Tomasino unfortunately was just traded for a 4th round pick a few years out.

There's quite a few young centers I'd be looking to bring in. All in all, we have two +30 year old centers that look to be declining and 1 highly promising young one that looks like any collision will permanently end his career. I think its time to revamp the center position, bring in some youth and get some more in the system

Good move cap wise but the rest of this season feels like such a weird punt considering it was supposed to be an actual run

I'll try to read this with the most optimistic assessment of Drury's intelligence:

He knew this core was not good enough (anyone with insight did), but couldn't generate the good will to break it up without the core failing.

Losing 6 of 7 gives him the excuse he needs. He can sell that it's clear we topped out as ECF participants and that the worm has turned. Better to cut bait too early than too late.

If that's what he believes, he's right (other than that he should have never made as many win-now moves as he did to begin with).

Drury wriggling out of Trouba’s deal to gain cap flexibility and immediately turn around and take JT Miller @8 million for another 6 years would make me genuinely laugh out loud

Better not.

Troch losing his game is far from established. Guy had a career year just last season. Team has some very weird stuff going on this season. I’m not at all worried about him long term

Next few games are going to be important to determine the teams direction, if they lose most or all we could be looking at a fire sale, if they win most then nothing probably happens. If they split then other moves but probably not franchise altering moves.

I dunno. I don't really believe that getting rid of one guy in Trouba is going to give the team the culture change Drury is after. I think Lindgren will go because the team (hopefully) sees the writing on the wall with his durability but I think another deep cut is needed from the older group.

Kakko and Vaakanainen were on the same gold winning team at the 2019 WJC. I haven't seen much of Urho since but I liked him on that team. Steady type.
Is their dynamic like Bert and Ernie or like Maverick and Iceman?
