It would be bad, but also begs the question where the NYR go from there in that scenario. No one is trading for him at the deadline or over the summer in that scenario. NYR would need to buy him out in the summer. $4M next year (so $4M savings), $2M the following. If they are considering "blowing it up" at least to some extent, that's probably managable.

Of course Ottawa shoots it down. Calgary would've shot it down if anyone suggested they were trading Matthew a year before he got traded.

But if Brady has it in his head the NYR want him and things continue to stall in Ottawa he could end up forcing their hand. You never know, not saying it's likely, but that's what leaking this is about. Communicating the Brady that we want you, just so you know.

Another thought and I have to get back to work.

Brooks coming out and saying Trouba is just the start signals that Drury isn't looking at a quick retool and contend for the playoffs this year.

More shoes are going to drop between today and the TDL.

Lindgren for sure. Kreider probable. Miller maybe. Igor shouldn't be self rented if big furniture is going to be moved in season and not wait until the offseason.

Zibanejad is a summer move if he waives.

I used to have this problem when Slats would move a big contract out. He’d get praised, but he created the problem in the first place and the team isn’t any better for it.

Brooks floating Tkachuk is classic Brooks...he's been beating the drum of rangers needing tougher players for years now and this is just another round of it. I could honestly go either way on this being Larry Brooks BS special or him actually having intel. but yeah either way that's not gonna happen right this second

let's just step back for a second and admire how much of a f***ing mess this is, to do this during the season. Trouba should've been waived in July. we could've signed someone much better for half his cap hit. Drury is an imbecile.

There's a difference between him floating the idea like he has in the past, and straight up saying he's a major Rangers target, to me
