Speculation: Roster Building Thread: Part XIV (To trade or not to trade is the question)

It won't take Laf or Perreault. Ottawa isn't keeping him and the Rangers can bid against themselves. NJ is the only team likely to be in and they won't touch a thing until the summer.

As usual, a player like Tkachuk will be traded for less than you think. Chytil and/or Kakko. Our 1st and 1 of Miller or lindgren for sure. I would do:

Chytil, Kakko, Lindgren, 1st for Tkachuk.

too f***ing bad. he softblocked a trade that he had no right to do by threatening to not report last summer. he has absolutely no right to do that. Trouba proceeds to throw a 3 month temper tantrum and Drury called his bluff and now he's done here. Tough shit cupcake.

Trouba to Anaheim for broken Zegras is something Ed would still do

Simple solution: play better!

I'd love to still be paid in millions even though I have been a dog shit employee for the last 2-3 years.

We need Big Walt to start pulling strings here. I know Tom Fitz is in NJ but its much better for Brady and the Tkachuk's #brand for him to be in NY long-term. especially when it potentially sets up brother vs. brother matchups in the playoffs. Im sure the Devils want him, but I agree they arent going all out to get him right now imo. Rangers will.

On Trouba's bigger hits. The great majority have been good hits. To great degree it's up to a player not to put himself in a vulnerable position which has been an issue with Chytil. One could say that Trouba hits with malice. I've also said here before that many of Jacob's hits have been predatory....that doesn't mean necessarily that hits like those are dirty or illegal though. The predatative nature of his hitting pretty much comes from his looking to catch opponents who aren't paying attention and taking advantage of that. There are defenseman not particularly known for being physical who are very good at this too. One is Erik Karlsson---he's absolutely buried some players. Stralman use to catch people once in a while. The Sabres use to have an offensive D Brian Campbell who caught a number of players unaware throughout his career.

Off topic, but I love what NJ did this summer. They filled the holes they needed to fill with the right players without giving up much. I don't see them making a massive move like Tkachuk. They're Cup contenders this year as their team stands right now, IMO.

I would just assume Columbus or Anaheim claims him. Both team have more cap space than they know what to do with and both could use a RD.

This guy gave it his all as NYR captain. I am thankful for that. He put his body on the line and delivered some of the absolute most bone crushing hits in this teams history. Respect to him for his tenure here. It’s time to move on, but I appreciate his effort and commitment.

Good way to look at it. The guy was never as good of a D man as his reputation suggested, but he gave us some fun moments.


That being said, sentimentality is best left to the past. His time to leave is overdue.

The will not report has never been verified.
It was something brooks said, and the media ran with.

If he didn’t report he’d essentially be forfeiting 15+ million.
He wasn’t doing that.

Drury pulled back on the move out of human decency, and probably made it clear that his play would determine what happens during the season.

I for one literally could not care any less.

When Drury got "played" by Trouba and his agent in the summer, everyone shit all over him then, too. So who f***ing cares what anyone else thinks at this point.

Yo... owners are billionaires who want to charge you higher prices and squeeze you for every penny.

They ruin franchises all the time like the Knicks. Never, ever, assume their interests align with the fans'.

They will sell our team and move it across the country if they thought it would make them richer and not hesitate more than two seconds to do it.

They want to win, but they will not hesitate to ruin a team and a fanbase to line their own pocket before winning every single time.

There’s no way any GM threatens waivers unless they absolutely know they have a buyer.

Otherwise it’s a bluff that could backfire
