The Rangers have no one to drag the team into the fight, outside of Cuylle, who the players have already shown they wont follow his lead. We need more, Sam Bennett, Trent Frederic, Jordan Greenway types. MSG is an easy place to play because opponents know they wont need an ice pack after the game. No wasted motion before hitting the clubs after beating the home team.

I wonder if they could convince Mika to go somewhere, he's obviously not having fun here, he might welcome the opportunity to go somewhere a little out of the spot light like Minnesota or something, reunite with Zuc.

Drury has held the player's accountable much more than Laviolette has. If anything, Drury's bad rep comes from holding players too accountable for the delicate sensibilities of the media. From overrated prospects who think the world of themselves (Krav, Lias) to well regarded veterans whose play has slipped to a point it can't go on (Goodrow, Trouba).

I really dont see the point of firing Drury that isnt just an overly emotional spaz out. Lavi is a different story. He could go at any moment. It would SHOCK me if he's still the coach if they lose to Buffalo.

You missed the part about overbearing and crude. Drury steps on toes, that's obvious. Being a dick is not the same as holding people accountable and getting the most out of people. Also, is it the coaches job or the GMs to hold players accountable. I say it's both a but at different levels. I pointed out that a good coach holds his players accountable. We've had Quinn, Gallant and now Lavisaurus and they simply haven't. All of them kicks some kid because that's the easiest thing to do. How can you respect that? All of them are examples of how NOT to do the job.

I'm poking fun at Drury because Drury and Zito interviewed for the Panthers job at the same time. The Panthers were smart and chose Zito. Do you honestly believe Drury would have finagled those trades and moves to turn the Panthers into cup champions?

This is the first time in many years that I think retooling is necessary. The claims last year for the Rangers to sell were asinine. Their performance this year has no impact on last year.

However, clearly something is wrong. Kreider. Mika. Lindgren. Panarin. All should be on the block.

The claims last year were spot on. Now the mess is much bigger than it needed to be, and the job to fix it that much more difficult and urgent. Bad management.

For right wrong or indifferent, I could see Drury selling heavy at this deadline to create a boatload of cap space going into the off-season and then signing some UFA's to kick-start next year while keeping the futures he acquires. Nashville just did this and while their UFA's haven't worked yet, the overall principle makes sense.

Kreider for 1st + A prospect + 2nd
Panarin for (2) 1st's + A prospect + B prospect
Lindgren for 2nd + 6th
Smith for 2nd + 6th
Vesey for 4th

Retain on Lindgren and Smith

Sign Provorov and Bennett going in to next season and look around for who else fits

I dont really care about Bill Zito or Florida. He has nothing to do with anything regarding the Rangers. Drury usually has been right when he's being "crude or overbearing". If Lavi isnt going to hold the players accountable, fire him. If Drury doesnt make more trades, he can also go.

Larry Brooks and Sean Avery get started at 44:10.

Uncle Larry gets a lot of shit, but he is one of us. He lays it out very succinctly, the core was fun to watch, but they were never good enough to win it all. He calls out Mika for being way too sensitive & too soft & infers his conditioning isn't where it needs to be. Also says he had 3 independent sources on Brady T. so there's obviously something to it.

The only thing I don't agree with him here is thinking the Igor contract is a win for Drury & the team.

@EdJovanovski , Brooksie is a bigger Rempe fan than you are, so I never want to hear another bad word about him from you.

Whaaaat??? I have long got shit for how much I praise Larry Brooks man LOL! I love the guy. I sometimes say the best in the business and perhaps some people think I'm being facetious and joking about him but I'm not. Mollie & Vince I don't distain them but all they do is post the lineups at practise & toe the party line for the org. Larry Brooks is one of the last old school sports journalists out there who tells it like it is and doesn't care what people think.

So I wonder if we need to take a step back on this whole situation right now and consider two different things that haven't really come up recently.

First is the overall lack of players that play with pace on this roster. I was thinking this morning that when I watch Mika I see a player that at this point it can't drive himself and almost needs the players around him to pull his game along with them. When he's allowed to he becomes lazy with his feet and lazy feet often lead to bad decisions. So next I think to myself who on the team in any roster spot is a good player to put with him that would play with Pace. You only player that I can think of is Berard. That's f***ing alarming. It also highlights to me what a poor choice Riley Smith was to become the winger for Mika because it was another slow player to go along with two other slow-paced five on 5 players. Kreider has a lot of individual speed but he is not a quick plan player.

Then the next thing that I really start to think about with Mika is whether or not he should actually be moved to the wing. I look at Mika and I see a lot of similarities to stammer. Stammer was a driving Center with a huge shot that eventually had to move over to the wing to take some of the responsibility off of him and allow him to do what he did best which was shoot the park without having to worry about everything else. Mika is having some of his worst moments in his own zone when he's down low trying to support the play. He just doesn't have a battle in him for the down low play and it's entirely possible that he's just aging quicker than people thought. I know a lot of people are concerned about his contract extension, I was one of them, but I never saw this happening so quickly. I wonder if moving over to the wing would take that off of him and allow him to just play instead of constantly turning into a mental pretzel.

So this then leads to another massive issue with this team that has been an organizational issue for well over a decade that nobody is fixed and that is the egregious lack of centered up in this organization. Right now this team should be doing everything it possibly can to find a center that plays with speed. Your best five on 5 Center is unfortunately always one hit away from long-term injury and your second best five on five Center is that absolute best the second liner that at times is forced into being a first liner.

Long-Term, if Mika stays here or if he's traded this team and organization is going to need another Center, so why not do everything you can right now to try to identify a mid-six Center that plays with speed and get them in here as soon as possible. This roster needs motor players, not the marathon players. And what it also needs is some personalities that are going to try to drive the room to be more than what they are rather them personalities that will constantly act like things are just going to be okay if they keep going.

Another of the most glaring issues is the absolute lack of leadership to drive the group. If you have a team in which you can't point to somebody and say that's our leader then you don't have leadership. Leadership can be shared for sure, but there's going to be somebody driving the bus that people gravitate to and that can pull people along with that. It might sound ridiculous there's a part of me that's wondering if Goodrow filled that role in the locker room a lot more than any of us understood. He was a grinder and it wasn't always pretty but that guy was involved, put his body out there on the line, stuff up for teammates, and did a lot of the things that can galvanize a group. I think too often some people on this board just want to slap a letter on certain players jerseys because they think that they should be a good leader but that's not how it works. I literally look at this roster and I have no idea who you would give a captaincy to you right now, not a single player on this roster. I think that says a lot about how they look like zombies with the way they're playing and how they're dealing with the last few weeks. There's just no leadership whatsoever within the locker room.

The real reason rempe isn't here right now is because they don't want to put it on a kid to be the one to turn around the emotional energy of this franchise. I completely agree with that by the way. You've got a core group of players that have been here a long time that have contributed to the disaster that is the locker room right now. They should be responsible for fixing it instead of getting off the hook by relying on a kid to come in here and give them a boost And let everybody else off the hook for how indifferent the rest of the roster is

That Buch trade destroyed this team.
The Buchnevich trade was brutal.
The reasons Drury gave at the time I believe were intentionally misleading.
IMO, Pavel was traded because he refused to stand up for himself in the first game against Washington after the Panarin/Wilson incident. Which was unfortunate because Buchnevich had fought in the past and handled himself.
Didn’t set well with the organization that his teammates were involved in a line brawl and fights in the game and he refused to answer the call when challenged. A meting with the player would have sufficed not a trade.
Drury mishandled the situation.

2 Wins in the last 10 games. Team is completely flat. Like driving on blown-out tires. I just don't see how calling him up for a game or two hurts them.

If Drury can't move players out on deals now, then use what you have. Good to see Berard get a chance, but i don't see the harm in bringing up the kid.

I wanna find the next Sam Bennett, not sign Sam Bennett at 29.

Those types of players churn out bad contracts with the same efficiency that they churn out hits.

We said that about finding the next Coleman before he is Coleman a couple of years back. Maybe there's some truth to this idea.

Underrated point that I didnt think about. Buch was a sourpuss his entire time in NY. Always miserable on the bench, even during the KZB days. It was a meme at one point. I guarantee the team did not like a veteran like him getting into a car accident with their rookie superstar goalie late night in Sheepshead Bay (largely Russian neighborhood in Brooklyn for those who dont know).

And the game after the Wilson incident, you are right. Everyone fought. except Buch, who cheapshotted Mantha with a crosscheck to the face (which got him a 3 game suspension) instead of dropping the gloves. It was a horrible trade but there was definitely more to it. This stuff matters.

How about a Forsberg deal with Nashville ?

That could get crazy with say Forsberg , Nyqvist , Sissons

Kreider , Vesey , Kakko

Just throwing around names

He's f***ing 30!

The only reason I want any player over 26 at this stage is if I'm swapping the player for Zibanejad and they are easier to get rid of down the line.

Spot on? The team came within 2 games of going to the SCF.
