Probably waaaay premature....

Foxy is an OFD..

So is DeAngelo.....

But, they play nothing alike. They have very different styles..

I don’t see a future here for Lundkvist.
And it hurts saying that because I see him as a good medium to Fox and ADA who will have a good NHL career..

But I don’t think he’ll be as good as either player at what they really excel at..

Meh.... Guess we’ll see.. Again, it’s s good problem but it’s something I keep thinking about.

I agree it’s hard to see those 3 on the right side together. The fact is, if I had to name the top 5 most talented D in the org, it would be the 4 righties and Miller over Skjei/Hajek/Lindgren.

I could see something like this in the future as I’m not opposed to a talented offensive D playing their off side.

Fox - Trouba
Miller - DeAngelo
Hajek/Lindgren - Lundkvist

In 2-3 years we may need to move on from DeAngelo for cap purposes, so you’re going to want to have guys like Keane and Lundkvist ready. Keep filling out Hartford, the more depth the better.

As it look right now, I would look at other options when we come to that. TDA is too valuable. He really opens things up offensively and that is something we can take advantage of.

Protect the entire right side in the expansion draft and expose everyone on the left. We can afford to lose a LD like Skjei or Hajak. Keep the guys at the right.

Nils is doing great in the SHL and is a good prospect. Use him as ammo in trades.

Lundkvist will take TDA's Jon, between his next contract, character issues ( not that I agree with that) and Fox superb play só far, I don't see a future for DeAngelo with the Rangers.

Agree with this. DeAngelo's value will never be higher after this season if he finishes with a good season. Still an RFA and the acquiring team will have the ability to negotiate with him directly.

He's the best candidate to bring back something of value that is a need in a hockey trade.

Lundkvist is so young he could play another year or 2 in Sweden before a season in the AHL. Just let him simmer. Plenty of time and no pressure with the guys we have in front of him.

Tony could sign a 3 year bridge deal like MCAvoy and Werenski did. When that contract expires it may line up perfectly with lundkvist looking for full time nhl mins. We’ve got time. And of course like u said in a few years we may want to make a big trade and he and or Keane could be very valuable pieces.

We really shouldn’t touch a dman this draft. It’s too much. Reuanen imo was super close to nhl ready and now he’s how far down the depth chart? We haven’t even seen rykov yet and I really like him.

And Zach Jones is looking at least right now like the steal of the draft.

I would take only forward this summer and I know that’s asking a lot but I’m serious at least thru the first 3 rounds

I posted this in the draft thread, but I really need the Rangers to go all out in the upcoming draft on skilled forwards to establish the depth similar to what they have on D.
Now that JD is here, I think we'll start seeing them draft players to similar to those he drafted in St. L and Columbus.....big guys with both skill and speed.

I think JD has very little impact on how this team will draft. And the Rangers have been drafting bigger forwards with skill and speed.

Not much faith in Keane but don't sleep on Robertson and Jones.
but isn't it nice for it to not really matter that much?

Keane is a pretty good prospect, but we are in a position that if he busts, so what? He will very likely outperform his draft position (if he hasn't already), and thats a success. Anything past that is gravy

I'm not oppossed to taking a LHD, so long as he's a potential top-pairing defenseman. Beyond Miller, I'd like a little more skill and upside on the left. I think we have solid depth pieces, but I'd be okay with more high-upside/higher odds type as well.

I think skill is important at forward, but I think we need a little less finesse and more of a straight on North-South presence moving forward to blend into things.

I want guys who look like their sole mission in life is to get to the net as quickly as possible.

so far it appears that JD's impact will be on how those players are developed after being picked than changing the draft strategy.
