We need stability, someone that can replace Ziba on the PK (DQ is playing him way to much) etc.

Last thing we need is some suspect failed reclamation project with “upside”. Stability.

Strome is too weak.
You can get those guys cheap. Brian Boyle was sitting there. He couldve ate up those PK minutes. Someone else will be available cheap.

If they deal Strome they need more than Riley Nash coming back. Strome hasnt been bad. He is getting the top 6 minutes and he could have 40 points by the deadline. That would up his value

Lias is so underwhelming in every way possible. I’ve been critical of him and been met with those defending his game to the very end. This guy does not have it, there are no glimpses and I almost feel sorry for him.
I would like to know what game you are watching because Lias has been anchored with 4th line wingers all year where plays go to die on their sticks and has hardly gotten a look with anyone else. DQ maybe has given him ONE shift in a game here and there and then quickly moves back to where he was. But in his limited time he has looked quicker, more aggressive, he has taken the body often, and he has been very damn good defensively. Last night he hustled back to break up a sure rebound goal in the 2nd period. He needs his chance with better players like Howden has been force fed all season. Finally after 7 games Howden finally showed up last night.

All things have not been equal for Lias here and there is no way you can determine what he is or isnt.

We went from having a terrible RD group to a really good one overnight.

remember 1st pair D Nick Holden? That wasn't that long ago.

Skjei has his problems, but if Staal somehow disappeared, our D overall is pretty good with help on the way.

somehow I think our ticket for a top 6 center lies in the organizational depth on D.

There's a thread on the trade board regarding the Wild attaching a young player to trade a bad contract. That got me thinking, what would it cost to get Zucc at 50%, and is that something we would be interested in?

Zucc at 3 mil per year for 4 more years isn't terrible, especially if he's the Zucc we remember. He only has 1 point in 6 games with the Wild so far, but I know he is better than that, even at age 32.

Kreider will be traded. Zucc can play the left side and hold the fort until Kravtsov gets up to speed. Zucc has an NMC until 2022, but I have to imagine he would waive to come back, and in the final 2 years, it changes to a limited NTC/NMC (10 team no trade list).

The Wild aren't going to just give him away while retaining 50%, but if the cost isn't prohibitive, would people be in favor of it? The only real negative I can see is that Webster would come back too :P

Full no movement clause the first three years of his deal.

Zuccarello is not the guy they are trading because he will likely just veto the deal.

Definitely, and if we could get him at 50% Webster coming back would be a worthwhile price to pay lol.

I would not take Zuccarello back for the same reason I didn't want to sign him to a contract with that term in the first place.

The term worried me too, but it worries me a lot less at 3 mil rather than 6 mil.

I'm more concerned with the player than the dollars, really. I'm not sure I see him being able to fill a non-offense driving 3rd line role when his skills start to deteriorate.

Good point. A guy like Kreider will probably *deteriorate* into a terrific third liner. Not sure Zucc has an effective Act Two.

Even if I wanted Zucc back, which I don't, he wouldn't agree to come here

He feels "slighted" that they traded him

So did Brian Leetch and he came back, albeit in a non-playing capacity.

IMO, Zucc has gotten himself into a bad situation. He's on a team going nowhere. Was the 5th year really that important? It may be too early for him to consider jumping ship, but how about come the trade deadline when they are out of the race? Or next season if things are still going poorly? Money is a great motivator, but he's already got his guaranteed contract. Winning should now be at the top of his list. If that isn't going to happen in Minnesota any time soon, both he and the Wild may consider a move.

I could see him okaying a move to a contender, but the Rangers aren't exactly winning right now either. They're in a better spot that Minnesota is though
