The Rangers need a shoot first winger, preferably a right hand shot and a right hand defenseman. Apart from the premium players in the draft, those should be the priorities.

There are some defenders that I am interested in:

Players I am going to keep an eye on at the game:

Anttoni Honka
Ville Heinola
Mikko Kokkonen
Nikita Vashchenko
Artemi Knyazev

And I am curious how overager Danila Galenyuk is doing this season. Could be an interesting option later on in the draft.

mika is being severely undervalued here. hes been money this season.

hes young, plays top line minutes, is nearly a ppg producer and has a wicked righty shot.

put him at the 2C and give him PP1 time and hes perfect. hes staying.

hayes is gone. he will bring back value. not sure im seeing the need for a mid low first. i would prefer a top 4 dman coming back.

zuc will return a pick to a contender looking for a player to plug into a top 6 role. hes a " 1 player away"
player.

up the middle even with out 13 were good. mika, howden, LA and chytl. draft hughes and put chytl on the edge and were good. andersson is a pivot. he needs to play in the middle. hes so defensively smart.

wingers we have PLUS kravtsov and panarin ? solid.

the D needs work.

Buddy, this information is easily available and tracked, and long story short, you're wrong. Mika has had more minutes against tougher usage than Howden has this season. Has Howden drawn some of those minutes too? Sure, it's an unavoidable part of playing the sport, and it's good to know that Howden has done very well when those faced with those situations. I don't get why you're ragging on Mika, but keep doing you. If you're gonna do it, at least make sure you're not just spewing nonsense. I also don't know where you got your 13 5v5 points from - he had 21 last season. I won't disagree that I'd like to see that number be higher.

This season, he has 4 in 13 games. It's a slight uptick from last season, but still not enough. Then again, this whole team is trending downwards for 5v5 scoring, so it's a teamwide issue.

I didn't look at any stat sites and I was going with what Sam and Joe said about Howden facing top line centers.
Maybe it's primarily FO's? IDK but I'd be interested in seeing the minutes difference.

When I said 13 points, I meant 13 ES goals which is kinda laughable no matter how you slice it.

As far as ragging on Mika, all you have to do is watch him play.

There's no way, stats or otherwise you can possibly tell me that he doesn't half ass it and float all over the place.

If he doesn't have someone like Kreider or anyone else doing all the heavy lifting he's pretty much null and void unless you consider standing around on the PP waiting for the puck to hit your tape playing hockey.

Actually Mika, especially when he is with Kreider, are facing the top lines and first pair defenses. There’s not a lot else to take pressure off of him..

OK..When he was with Kreider.

How about since they've been broken up?

Zibanejad is an elite 2C on a contender IMO. No reason to trade him, he’s locked in at a great price and still pretty damn young.
But did you know he only has 2 points at 5 v 5? Trade him for a conditional seventh round pick

Some of you people will give anyone a pass just because you like their hair color lol.
Score points, forget defense..It's beyond ridiculous..

No one mentioned Mika's hair but now that you did he got a pretty nice flow, defenitly better then Shattenkirk's
I give mika a "pass" because hes a good player on a very good deal. At the very worst hes a high end 2c/1b and at 5.35 for thats a great deal for us.

Yeah, but the solution for not having a top-10 center in the league is to trade your best center away

Yeah, it is much more reasonable to trade anyone over 27, or to trade your best center because he's not McDavid even though you have no one in the organization to replace that player.

No..I'm not one of those that believe your hockey career is over at 30 but admittedly, I am a bit of a prick when it comes to playing a 200 ft game.

While I admire skill very much, I just can't stand one dimensional players.

But..Like we discussed before..we do agree that if there was a legit top line center some of Zib's play or lack thereof wouldn't be so glaring.

1B?

f*** NO lol

So Zibanejad isn't the problem then. Why trade him? He is not paid to be a 1st line center. His CH% is on par with 2nd line centers.

I'm not adamant about trading him but that NMC and his injury history does bother me.

His contract expires when he is 29. He is signed at a very capfriendly deal for what he brings. Zibanejad is the least of our problems, even with a NMC.

So a guy who nearly scored 30 last year and is off to a decent start this year cant be a 1b because?

Again..You're strictly looking at numbers while completely dismissing the other very important parts of the game.

He shouldn't be anywhere near a 1st line.

Not now, not ever..

Trading him isn't the solution. It creates a new, bigger problem.

Even Latka has a 10 team no trade.

I don't get why Zib doesn't but I guess we'll see what happens for better or worse..
