The Rangers need a shoot first winger, preferably a right hand shot and a right hand defenseman. Apart from the premium players in the draft, those should be the priorities.

He’s going to turn 27 eventuallySo, even if Zibanejad becomes a 70-point 1st line center that the Rangers have signed to a relatively inexpensive deal through his prime years, he should be dealt because of his NMC? I fail to see the logic here.
Buddy, this information is easily available and tracked, and long story short, you're wrong. Mika has had more minutes against tougher usage than Howden has this season. Has Howden drawn some of those minutes too? Sure, it's an unavoidable part of playing the sport, and it's good to know that Howden has done very well when those faced with those situations. I don't get why you're ragging on Mika, but keep doing you. If you're gonna do it, at least make sure you're not just spewing nonsense. I also don't know where you got your 13 5v5 points from - he had 21 last season. I won't disagree that I'd like to see that number be higher.
This season, he has 4 in 13 games. It's a slight uptick from last season, but still not enough. Then again, this whole team is trending downwards for 5v5 scoring, so it's a teamwide issue.
Actually Mika, especially when he is with Kreider, are facing the top lines and first pair defenses. There’s not a lot else to take pressure off of him..
But did you know he only has 2 points at 5 v 5? Trade him for a conditional seventh round pickZibanejad is an elite 2C on a contender IMO. No reason to trade him, he’s locked in at a great price and still pretty damn young.

Some of you people will give anyone a pass just because you like their hair color lol.
Score points, forget defense..It's beyond ridiculous..

No one mentioned Mika's hair but now that you did he got a pretty nice flow, defenitly better then Shattenkirk's
I give mika a "pass" because hes a good player on a very good deal. At the very worst hes a high end 2c/1b and at 5.35 for thats a great deal for us.
Yeah, but the solution for not having a top-10 center in the league is to trade your best center away![]()
Yeah, it is much more reasonable to trade anyone over 27, or to trade your best center because he's not McDavid even though you have no one in the organization to replace that player.

And not sign one of the best wingers in the NHL next summer because 27 is "too old"
Phil Kessel just had the most points of his career and he was a decrepit 30 year old doing it.
But..Like we discussed before..we do agree that if there was a legit top line center some of Zib's play or lack thereof wouldn't be so glaring.
So a guy who nearly scored 30 last year and is off to a decent start this year cant be a 1b because?1B?
**** NO lol
So Zibanejad isn't the problem then. Why trade him? He is not paid to be a 1st line center. His CH% is on par with 2nd line centers.
I'm not adamant about trading him but that NMC and his injury history does bother me.

Again..You're strictly looking at numbers while completely dismissing the other very important parts of the game.
He shouldn't be anywhere near a 1st line.
Not now, not ever..
His contract expires when he is 29. He is signed at a very capfriendly deal for what he brings. Zibanejad is the least of our problems, even with a NMC.
Trading him isn't the solution. It creates a new, bigger problem.
