Again..You're strictly looking at numbers while completely dismissing the other very important parts of the game.

He shouldn't be anywhere near a 1st line.

Not now, not ever..
And he is not as bad at the other aspects of the game as you say he is

Who is Latka?

If you ever seen Taxi it would youngblood lol

I had to look it up. A US TV Show from the late 70s is not something a lot of people in Western Europe would have seen (with some exceptions like The A-Team or Dukes of Hazzard). When I was a kid, most English shows on TV were British.

Yeah, it's an American thing and NY back in the day.
I'm sure @ReggieDunlop68 could give you an education on it lol

if you made mika available many/most gms would pay close attention. hes well respected around the league and with good reason. and that brassard deal was one sided. we won that deal clean.

he should go no where. and hes only going to get better. this organization is lucky to have zman.

and one more thing, this age things is somewhat over done.

there are just as many 30+ goals scorers out there as there are under 27's.

i agree that the peak for a player is prob 27 but the shape these guys are in today with nutrition, in and off season training and medical and equipment advancements allows for careers and production to continue well into the 30's.

a guy like michael grabner is a primne example. physical specimen at 31 yrs old.

If the Rangers win the lottery. And if a team is willing to give up let's say the 6th overall pick for Zibs... And the Rangers walk away with

Hughes/Cozens...

Then you consider a trade.

IMO going the Sam Hinkie route isn't good for the market... NBA owners stepped in to get Colangelo in Philly because that level of tanking affected league revenue numbers. One shouldn't expect a 3-4 year tankathon.

All of the contending teams today have the bulk of their roster with guys in their prime- 23-28, and a few younger studs.

All of the teams in the tank right now, have either an uneven spread of players outside of the prime age group or are lacking frontline depth.

This is what the cap has done, it created parity sure, but it also created parameters where to be contender you need to have your front-line players in their prime. That's not to say you can't with with a Wheeler, Pavelski, Burns, etc...

but the rest of the guys on the roster need to be seasoned and with fresh skating legs. Otherwise, over the course of 82 & 20, it's hard to win.
