This team needs better numbers from our top line center and I just don't think he brings enough to the table.

If we were to get Hughes and slide Zib down to the 2nd line then I might feel differently but as of today?

I feel like Hayes has a better all around game and even Howden is keeping pace while facing all the top centers in the league.

I think I trade Zib over Hayes, just my IMO

So you want to trade Zibanejad because he's not a first line center? How is that fixing anything? Zibanejad is paid like a 2nd line center, putting up numbers like a fringe 1st line center. How is that bad in any way?

Howden has not even played a quarter of a season yet. Can we wait a bit before labeling him as a top-6 center?

So, even if Zibanejad becomes a 70-point 1st line center that the Rangers have signed to a relatively inexpensive deal through his prime years, he should be dealt because of his NMC? I fail to see the logic here.

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for that 70 point season if I were you.

He's been in the league for what? 8 years now?

When is this supposed to happen exactly?

He's got some major holes in his game that I don't see being corrected anytime soon and while he certainly has the tools, he just doesn't seem to have the desire to put the rest together.

Zibanejad is as good of a player as Stepan was when he was dealt, younger, and signed to a better contract. Stepan was dealt for a top 10 pick and a decent prospect.

I'd be very disappointed with a similar return for Zibanejad. Top 5 pick or blue chip prospect or GTFO.

I'd rather not trade him to begin with, but that's the type of return that I'd be ok with.

Keep in mind that Arizona also got a guy they felt could be a #1 goalie in the NHL. That adds a lot of value for a team like Arizona.

Unless Zibanejad takes a major step forward this year, he's still a 50 point center. That kind of player doesn't usually return a top-5 pick or an elite prospect by themselves.

How can he be in the league for 8 years if he's 25? Even if Zibanejad is what he is, and doesn't improve, he is still a great player to have for the money he gets.

Let me get this straight here.

1. Zibanejad is paid like a 2nd line center
2. Zibanejad puts up production like a 2nd line center
3. You want us to trade Zibanejad because we don't have a true 1st line center

Yes, you're right about Howden and I'm not labeling him a top 6 just yet but to my point, Zib is facing much weaker competition and should be tearing shit up right now.

He's been very disappointing in my eyes.

He's on a 63 point pace.

No..To be very clear. I want players that can bring a 200 foot game and Zib, well..He has about a 20 foot game lol

What? Zibanejad is playing against the other team top line every single game.
BTW, he is almost a ppg player right now.

He's on a 63 point pace.

That doesn't mean he's going to finish with 63 points.

You realize he had a grand total of 13 5v5 points last year>

Sorry but that's REALLY bad and he simply doesn't bring enough to the table to make up for when he's not putting points on the board.

I think he offers more than enough for what he's paid. Again, he's paid as a 2nd line center and puts up production that is very impressive for that role. Just because we are missing a true 1st line center in your eyes, doesn't mean we should trade Zibanejad. That would just ruin our center depth even more. You already said you would be happy with Zibanejad if we had Hughes as our 1st line center. That right there is what we need. We need a better center than Zibanejad, not get rid of Zibanejad.

Quite frankly, I don't care what he gets paid but I do agree that if we did have a better center
and slid down Zib we probably wouldn't be having this convo.

Is there actual data you’re referencing about Howden facing the oppositions top lines or is that just pulled out of the air?

Cause I have a hard time believing that

They only spent half the game talking about it lol

We were in the playoff race last year at the TDL and had no problem sending out a letter and trading a bunch of our guys

That was under AV. Now there are new players and a new coaching staff.

According to the beat writers there's a lot of interest in Zucc and Hayes, Gorton could trade them any time. But he says no at this point because they want to compete. Then it makes little sense to trade them at the deadline IF the Rangers have a fair chance on a playoff spot, unless they actually want to leave. If not they will be extended.

Even more important, management must believe in it, something they didn't last season.

Lol. Yeah, Vesey, Fast and Howden are playing the other team 1st line...

I guess you're not familiar with a checking line that goes up against opposing top lines?

They usually deploy them when your top center isn't capable of matching up :thumbu:

Howden and Lias will be the responsible Cs ... Zib way better than Hayes on offense

Hayes is gone 100 percent and that’s fine as all the Young depth is at C

Draft more wingers and D

Buddy, this information is easily available and tracked, and long story short, you're wrong. Mika has had more minutes against tougher usage than Howden has this season. Has Howden drawn some of those minutes too? Sure, it's an unavoidable part of playing the sport, and it's good to know that Howden has done very well when those faced with those situations. I don't get why you're ragging on Mika, but keep doing you. If you're gonna do it, at least make sure you're not just spewing nonsense. I also don't know where you got your 13 5v5 points from - he had 21 last season. I won't disagree that I'd like to see that number be higher.

This season, he has 4 in 13 games. It's a slight uptick from last season, but still not enough. Then again, this whole team is trending downwards for 5v5 scoring, so it's a teamwide issue.

Actually Mika, especially when he is with Kreider, are facing the top lines and first pair defenses. There’s not a lot else to take pressure off of him..
