Shattenkirk can be dealt at the draft (LNTC of 10 teams), that is definitely a trade Gorton should consider.

EDM is desperately looking for a RHS PPQB. PC must consider moving guys like Puljujärvi. EDM will have a high pick in this year's draft. EDM is a legit contender down the road -- there are many teams in the NHL you don't want to go to. Would EDM be on Shatty's list? Shatty to EDM for Puljujärvi/1st in 2018 (if its top 10).

He never should have signed Shattenkirk if a full rebuild was ever a possibility.

I think it all comes down to whether JG thinks he can get better offers at the deadline or at the draft. I think teams may be more desperate in season.

Edmonton was talking trade with the Blues at the draft in 2016. Shattenkirk would not sign an extension in Edmonton. Jeremy Rutherford of the STL Post-Dispatch reported it was Shattenkirk for Hall. Edmonton traded Hall to the Devils for Larsson one week later. Shattenkirk will probably put all of the Canadian teams on his list. At the 2015 draft,the Blues and Sharks were discussing a trade involving Shattenkirk and Oshie to the Sharks for #9(Timo Meier was the Sharks pick)and another player. Elliotte Friedman mentioned that on the podcast last week. The Coyotes also wanted to acquire Shattenkirk in the summer of 2016. Let Shattenkirk get healthy. The Rangers can deal him next season or the following season.

Yeah you are probably right about Shatty being able to block EDM. My bet is that EDM wouldn't be on his 10 least wanted teams, but if he was tactical he could leave teams that wouldn't be interested in him off the list and include EDM. For example, if Ottawa is keeping EK, they would never trade for him. Leave Ottawa off the list and include EDM.

OTOH, EDM has the future in front of them and Shatty would really perform there for sure. Who knows.

What does Winnipeg have to offer for McD? Kyle Connor certainly is no Clayton Keller. I am definitely not sold on him. He is not good in traffic. Not much of a competitor on the ice. I have not followed him enough to pass a definite verdict, but he does seem to be a bit of a poor man's Matt Duchene... Winnipeg is not dealing Ehlers, he is the one that I would want, but I just don't see it. I like Nic Petan and Brendan Lemieux, but not in a deal for McD.

The American boys don’t like playing in Canada if they have a choice.

I'd love to get Jagr back but I know that's more fanboy than reality. He can't keep up with AVs system. Just have Chytil come up the last month of the season, only play him 6 more times, but just have him be around Jagr and learn from the master, absorb anything and everything. Also it would be nice especially if this team is going to go through with the firesale and concede the season, to give Jagr his own goodbye moment on 3/30 kinda like Gretzky and Messier both got.

As for the Peg: any trade for McD I'd want something like a 1st, 2nd, Lowry, and one of Roslovic or Spacek, two righty centers. If Lowry is off the table, then Copp is a must.
 
So, we'll be looking to see if Holland/Lettieri/ADA are called back up soon. Imagine it would be ADA/Holland at most.

I’m assuming they’ll use these two days to acrue cap space because why not at this point. Really interested to see if we take back salary from someone to get some assets.
 
3 levels of action in my estimation:

1. Rebuild on the fly:

Trade Nash, Grabner, Holden, Desharnais, UFAs

2. Full Rebuild:

Add McD, Smith, MZA, buy out Staal to the above

3. Total Tear Down:

Add Shatty and Hank to the above

We should start at 1 at trade deadline and give us an idea if we should proceed to 2 at draft.

Of course not, and shouldn’t have re-signed Smith either. Rangers had an excellent chance to commit to rebuilding this summer and they choose to go with another half baked retool to give Vigneault and friends another shot.

I don't know. A deal around Morrissey and Roslovic and another good prospect or 1st for McDonagh would be a pretty decent starting point.

I'm almost positive that McD has a NTC and WPG is one of if not the worst rated places to play by the players. Why in the world would he ok a move there.
 
I think the move is McDonagh to Tampa.

Win-Now team. Needs a Dman. Can play with Girardi or Stralman at the minimum. A lot of prospects.

2018 1st & Raddysh is a very good starting point.
