He's played very little center. Even when Vancouver moved Pettersson to wing, he didn't play center.

I see him as being a RW option in the top six or a LW in the bottom six.

I deleted after I did a little research. Clearly not a center, although Hockey Refernece has him listed as one. LH so I am assuming LW or can he play both?

I could get behind a line with Joshua and Cuylle as staples on a physical 3rd line...

What do you see in him? I have watched him maybe once so I am just going off the stats I see. Very physical player with 245 hits. Much of his production comes at 5v5 which is nice to see. He doesn't get a lot of shots so I am guessing, based on his goal totals, that he either scores from in close or has an above average shot.
He's physical, drives play, has a bit of skill, late bloomer.

I see him being a more truculent Benoit Pouliot.

Oh! That's what you get from blindly trusting EliteProspects!

Well, why not I guess.
And if he can, that's even better, because I'm pretty sure Chytil got two concussions as we were having this conversation.

I really don't know if he can. All I know is he used to but has mostly played wing in the NHL.

He seems versatile, which is good, because I really want a guy who can switch sides if need be.

This Joshua conversation is eerily similar to the Dillon/Lindgren one for me. Based on initial stat perusing:

Joshua @ 4 years @ $3.25 + picks for Kakko > Kakko @ 3 years @ $3.15m

All per AFP projections

Eh. Part of what makes MacKinnon, Hughes, and McDavid special is their ability to play the same with Panarin-level skill but at 50% faster pace. Not unlike the elite footballers being able to dribble in tight spaces while at full gallop.

Laf can become a grittier, stronger version of Panarin, but like bread, he will never have the seperation ability those other guys do. He just doesn't play the game at that pace.

Right but not everybody good is fast. It's difficult for Panarin because he likes to slow the game down and he's 150 pounds soaking wet. Laf has the size to adapt.

If he gets PP time and takes well to it, he could be a play-driving 40-40 guy. There aren't many of those when you think about it.

He did some seperation these playoffs. Still room to develop.

No power for 6 hours while electricians install a new switch board panel. Gonna catch up on all the junk posts.

I'd agree with this if I didn't watch him completely shred Florida on multiple occasions.

If he can do that against them, he can do it against anyone.

fyi everyone

I'm not a huge fan of him if the price was high but with TB looking to dump salary to try and retain Stamkos & fill out the rest of their roster. would Jeannot for something like Robertson make sense? NYR gets a guy who can bring the FL style of play in the bottom 6 (maybe he can rekindle that one crazy season in Nash w/KZ?) and TB gets a bit of reclamation project prospect who would probably do well in their system and eventually make the team. The cap is a little high for my liking but it's only 1 season and it might be a better option overpaying a FA for multiple years.

I know some people are anti Cirelli but if Tampa is looking to clear money for guys and he's on the block, I'd be all over that.

If you want to build a top 9 line that can match up and eat another team's top line, he's a great player to start with.
He’s way overpaid for what he produces both offensively and defensively.
He’d get far less ice time here.
We don’t need bad contracts, we need our big contracts to either be moved, or produce like big contracts.

I don't mind this but I also feel like we could build that line with Trocheck and not necessarily need to make a big add.

We mostly need to stop using our absolute worst matchup player in this role.

6.25M for a 3rd liner? I'm good.

Never surpassed 45 points in a season. On top of that, what are you giving to get him? We can't keep the same cap structure, so money has to go out somewhere.

You're not getting a piece that will be around for more than 1 year if they are making a decent amount of money. Laf and Igor deals coming next summer and Panarin will still be on the books for another year. Trouba is still on the roster so he will be too.

Some team in the West is going to get him anyway
