Matt Martin and Cal Clutterbuck both had individual seasons in junior with more points and goals than Rempe had his entire junior career.

I'd smash the over on goals pretty comfortably and I think he sucks and doesn't belong in this league as an every day player based off of what he's shown so far.

If you're talking about degenerates like Carrick, then yeah, he'd struggle in Europe, where the game is very mature compared to NA junior.

I use Vesey as an example because he's talented despite being a pretty whatever NHL player.

If you're talking about junior hockey, then yeah, pretty much anybody who made the NHL would tear it apart.

I mean the guys 21 and 6’8. It’s fair to realize he’s not totally grown into his body yet. I don’t see why he can’t improve like Brian Boyle did. I’m not saying he’s going to play in a top 6, but I def feel he can develop into a capable 4th line presence.

I don’t really see the comparison to Brian Boyle outside of being tall considering Boyle was a first round pick and top 10 scorer in the nation two years in a row in college. He also was 10th in goals in his rookie year in the AHL. We’re not exactly talking about two guys with a similar pedigree and history of success at lower levels.

I don't either really, Boyle had a great set of hands to go along with his ability to get around the ice, however there really is no comparison for Rempe really. He skates a lot better than most tough guys his size though, and the important part, he's willing to work to get better in any way he can. Imo he should be an nhl regular at some point, my only concern is will the refs allow him to play the way he needs to.

Boyle knew how to use his size, reach, and huge ass to protect the puck.

Exactly. And just because one guy did, does make it a situation where the next guy can. Then add in the fact that Boyle was already a proven talent and....

Strip him of the C if you can't trade him and fire Drury. They both suck.

I don't think that would be a bad thing for Rempe too. If he continues to improve, he can grow into a staple in the lineup.

I look at Rempe, Edstrom, Vesey, Brodzinski, and Carrick as rotational players. What Edstrom and Rempe have going for them is that there is room for growth. You also have Berard/Othmann as somewhat wildcards coming into camp in a few weeks.

One thing I do hope is that they actually try him at center at some point. That's a big body and with appropriate conditioning and maturing, could be a 200ft board monster. Edstrom already looks that way, we just didn't get to see him enough.

To me “trying” would’ve been buying Trouba out and trading Lindgren and then you have 7 million plus assets to get two NHL players, easily doable

The Rangers wanted Lindgren here this year. If they didn't, they would have dealt him before 7/1 and just resigned Gus. He was half the price. Lindgren's situation wasn't as dependent on Trouba as.one would think.

I have no problem with Trouba protecting his interests on a personal level but the issue has nothing to do with NTC. It’s not like he was asked to give a permission to go to a team that he put on his list. The situation would have developed exactly the SAME if there was no NTC at all and Trouba just threaten to not report as he’s done.

Where did you get that resigning Gus was the only alternative to keeping Lindgren? The proper path to improving 1LD spot naturally would have involve paying (a lot) more than $4.5m that Lindgren got (unless you’re doing a video game scenario of getting a better player at a cheaper price). Where would this extra cap space come from? Selling low on Kakko that would’ve given what - maybe $1m or a little more after replacement cost? Still not enough plus a terrible asset management decision as I’m sure you’d agree. The play to improve 1LD was starting with moving Trouba because, cap hit aside, Trouba is quite acceptable on a 3rd pair so buying out Trouba was not an option for the Rangers

Reports are he's demanding top 6/9 + PP time out of the gate. This org won't do that for its own top 2 picks, they're not doing that for him. Rightly so.

Maybe he softened that to play with Sid and Malkin.

How is buying someone out a circumvention? It's just as within the team's rights as exercising a NTC is within a player's rights. NYR would NOT have bought him out anyway, too much dead cap space going forward and no return. Plus they wouldn't want him just signing with NJD or NYI...
Also we waived Goodrow, we didn't buy him out. And that wasn't circumvention either. NYR received no considerations for waiving him.
But we agree that Trouba was within his rights.
