Kids today amirite? So your nephew is ripped with armpit hair at 15
Its funny how some ppl say he should hit the gym when it's more likely that he hit the gym a little too hard for his age
BustHe’s 19 on a really shit blackhawks team, and he’s still has 45 points in 52 games
19 year old putting up 70 points is very rare. This kids super talented. He needs to work on his play without the puck. He floats around a little bit. When the pucks on his stick he dangerous. And again....what's crazy is HE ISN'T EVEN PLAYING POORLY. He's fine. Like he had a bad first 20-25 games with a horrific head coach that was clearly hindering him. He's been playing well since the coaching change and continues to learn and grow as expected. This idea that he's some sort of failure is just utter nonsense conjured up by those desperate to see him struggle.
lol seriously...."dude 70 pts for a 19 year old on the worst team in the league isn't the feather in his cap that you think it is".....i mean who are we comparing him to, Gretzky? How many 19 year olds have put up 70+pts on teams this bad? Its gotta be a short list.
Everyone was saying it, not just the TSN talking heads.
Crosby also lived with Lemieux and also had vets like Gonchar, LeClair, Recchi and more. Can’t dismiss the presence of quality vets to smooth in a young players transition to the nhlMaybe....but I think people are looking at Bedard and wanting him to score more than he is, not sure if there is a role model issue there.
Crosby had Lemieux for what...20 games to start his career? When Roberts joined the team, Crosby was running away with the scoring title already. I'm sure Roberts helped Crosby develop his overall character/game/whatever, but as noted, if Bedard was sitting on 90pts right now, I doubt anyone would be having these discussions.
That's weird, TSN said back in 2023 that he'd go behind Crosby and McDavid.Everyone was saying it, not just the TSN talking heads.

That may be, but the poster I replied to said everyone was saying he'd be better than McDavid. Craig Button said he'd be behind McDavid, so obviously not everyone felt Bedard would be the better Connor.Button is the TSN contrarian

And if he does match and exceed Crosby and or Mcdavid , you'll admit you were wrong right. All you can say about the kid is that he seems to be a step down from Ovi, Sid and McJesus.
Which, judging that all 3 of those are worth to be included in at least top 10 players to ever play the game is not surprising.
Yes he was overhyped coming into the league, and, I must admit, I was also kinda routing against the kid because of all the hype.
However he himself never said that he is or going to be better than one of the greats, never called himself a generational talent or a superstar. He never said anything controversial as far as I can see, which is not surprising as he seems to have a same boring milktoast canadian athlete personality as McJesus.
The media personalities were the ones hyping the kid up, they should be the ones clowned on, not him.
And he will, probably, still grow up to be a very very good player, just not one of the all time greats.
Not everyone but I remember it was repeated ad nauseam about Connor vs Connor, or at least including him in the conversation of Connor and Sid.That may be, but the poster I replied to said everyone was saying he'd be better than McDavid. Craig Button said he'd be behind McDavid, so obviously not everyone felt Bedard would be the better Connor.
Maybe I'm being overly semantic but imo you don't have to be a Crosby, McDavid, Ovi level player to be one.All you can say about the kid is that he seems to be a step down from Ovi, Sid and McJesus.

That's a reachNobody with any common sense was saying he’d be better than McDavid, who at the time was coming off three consecutive scoring titles.
People were saying he’d be the next big star, which implies a comparison to Crosby and McDavid but could also mean he ends up being a MacKinnon or Kucherov. So far it appears he will not be that guy, but it’s not like it was some far fetched idea (like “better than McDavid” certainly would have been).
